Re: Votes v Lions
There was a stoppage deep in their forward line which ended up an easy goal to Brisbane. It exemplefied Seb Ross's inability to impact at stoppages or at least defend in that sort of situation.spiral3 wrote: ↑Mon 24 Jun 2019 11:06amHe was woeful, never looks just kicks it anywhere. Interesting nobody gave Ross a vote and yet the idiots in The Age gave him votes this week and last.
They only look at number of possessions.
Lots of negativity toward him in the crowd at the game, rightly so.
needs a spell in the twos to work on his effectiveness.
He looks for the easy option. He tried to put his leg out to stop the opposition mids rather than straight line the loose ball or lunge at the footy to at least create another stoppage. It s***s me when we allow easy goals when our leaders are reluctant to put their head over the footy.
Seb Ross and about 10 other players over the last 5 years have been allowed to get away with this sort of behaviour. I could not give votes to JB because I thought he fumbled too much and played timid at times

Re: Votes v Lions
I did because whilst copping his due attention and down on possessions, he still tried to impact by tackling, nine of them. JB from a couple of seasons a go would not have done that.

Re: Votes v Lions
Billings, this year and even on the weekend is a much more aggressive player than in the past. He stands under the high ball, tackles hard, takes a tackle now without turning the body, keeps the hands high most times. If you look at my past posts I have noted JB did not do these things. He does now.

Re: Votes v Lions
He started very slowly on Saturday against the Lions. I agree that he had an ok match overall but when you consider that he's one of our highest paid, I can't forgive timid efforts that result in repeat fumbles. When a player takes his eyes off the footy it spells disaster because it means they won't take the footy cleanly. I'm probably marking him harshly but these are the basics that everyone should be executing.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Mon 24 Jun 2019 7:36pmI did because whilst copping his due attention and down on possessions, he still tried to impact by tackling, nine of them. In the article above there's a bit of a write up on Billings in 2018. JB up until last year was still playing timid in my opinion. He has a few bad habits which are ingrained and he wasn't challenged enough early in his career on those behaviours (even if he was, it seemed like he was getting a couple of extra senior games without earning them)
