Why was Brown out?
1/ Jake is not a like for like with Brown so that seemed questionable
2/ Brisbane have many young good talls ( who yesterday were pretty much allowed to mark at will). How we longed for Browns big body and experience just to put some body on someone in a contest
3/ Without Brown who was the leader of the backline. How we needed an experienced head who may have been able to give direction when all about seemed lost. With Marsh, Wilkie, Battle with a handful of games between them Savage now completely out of form and McKenzie who was shot after 10 minutes of Charlie and Armo who although experienced is not a natural defender we were rudderless
Yes yes I know Brown is not the future but in an 8 point game that was as good as a final. We needed big bodies and experience

Re: Why was Brown out?
Totally perplexing.
Even more so when Richo opened with Carlisle in the forward line.
At one centre bounce I had the binocs on our backmen and ALL SIX of them were shorter then their opponents.
Hardly surprising that they outmarked us!

A few of us called out these selection mistakes on Thursday night.

Re: Why was Brown out?
Pretty typical of match committee blunders that have dogged the Richo years.

The St Kilda football club is an illusion.. We live in the matrix.. Life is a flat circle we go round and round making the same mistakes over and over. They who follow the club have no say in it and are destined for repeat experiences. Please disconnect us.

Re: Why was Brown out?
Brown's ability to shut down an opponent is something we've been able to depend on, but what I think the coach has forgotten in this instance is Brown's ability organise the back half. It was seriously missed yesterday . Carlisle may be a a more gifted footballer, but an organiser he ain't. Pointing and moaning after the event is more his go.

Re: Why was Brown out?
Brown might not be the future, but he’s been very solid this season in difficult circumstances.
I wouldn’t have dropped him. His leadership down back has been first rate.
As for Carlisle playing ruck/forward, I don’t mind it. If Richo’s going to go down he might as well go down playing a few shots.
Usually he’s ultra conservative, so trying a few things different is a step in the right direction.
Unfortunately our was midfield was smashed comprehensively and Cameron was just too damned quick. A Jimmy Webster or lockdown specialist like Geary would have been very handy.

Re: Why was Brown out?
It is because of global warming.
Dan Andrews raised the royalty on brown coal knowing that would force the closure of Hazelwood power station.
But that meant that when the wind did not blow and the sun did not shine there was not enough electricity to go around.
That is why we had Brown Out
St Kilda FC supports the state Labor government because they got a big bribe from them.

Maybe Richo felt the Lions forwards like Hipwood were too mobile for Brown.
I would have thought Brown the logical choice for McStay.

Re: Why was Brown out?
Which was precisely the dribbling delusional fool’s rationale for the Joyce for Brown change before GWS game. Never find Brown has always played well on Cameron as actually defends himJoffa Burns wrote: ↑Sun 23 Jun 2019 8:40pmVery good question.terry smith rules wrote: ↑Sun 23 Jun 2019 1:30pm 1/ Jake is not a like for like with Brown so that seemed questionable

Re: Why was Brown out?
My first idea was that it was Carlisle for Brown.
Then Carlisle played forward ??
Meanwhile Brown had been in our best for the last few weeks.
Maybe there wasnt a match up. MMM... no plenty of available matches ....
Maybe the match committee is purposely sabotarging Richo (not that they have to)
