Re: Culture
Maybe. I'm pretty sure sure maggots have bet on AFL matches in the past and then influenced results to get he desired outcome.

Re: Culture
Please. We’ve had players plead guilty to indecent assault, confirmed coke habits, a president off his face, lighting dwarves on fire...
Stick your head in the sand all you like. EVERY club (just like society) has bad eggs who play outside the rules, whether drugs, gambling, illegal activities, etc. GUARANTEED.
Small bets on games would be at the lighter end of things.

Re: Culture
I very much doubt that that's how the AFL will view the filth player if he is found to have been betting on a filth game.The_Dud wrote: ↑Tue 18 Jun 2019 4:04pm Please. We’ve had players plead guilty to indecent assault, confirmed coke habits, a president off his face, lighting dwarves on fire...

This was always on the cards after the AFL welcomed and even encourged gambling on AFL matches by the general public.

Told ya dudly

"Young Collingwood star Jaidyn Stephenson is staring down the barrel of a lengthy suspension and hefty fine after allegedly being caught by the AFL betting on a match in which he played.
The Age understands Stephenson placed a bet of less than $50 on a Collingwood match this year.
The AFL integrity unit is investigating the wager and the league is unwilling to comment at this time.
AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said on Tuesday afternoon he was not going to make any comment about anything that may or may not be before the AFL integrity department.

Re: Culture
Oh I never doubted the AFL would come down on him. He’s a young kid who made a silly mistake. Like you said it’s all a bit hypocritical with the AFL and gambling.saynta wrote: ↑Tue 18 Jun 2019 5:04pm Told ya dudly

Definitely not an isolated incident though. Like drug testing in sport, it’s actually more an intelligence test than a drug test.

Re: Culture
I agree , I hate the word Culture connected to sporting teams . Seriously though how dumb or maybe protected are these players. How could it not be drummed into them that they cant bet on matches. They really do live in bubbles dont they.

Re: Culture
word on the street that another Collingwood player has a very large gambling debt, not necessarily as a result of betting on football, and an Adelaide player has a similar problem.

Re: Culture
word on the street is that this player was bailed out to the tune of $1.2M to settle his debts by a Melbourne Businessman with close ties to the club and lured back to play from up North to play again with his old club. Not necessarily betting on football, but I'm pretty sure the $1.2M wasnt part of any salary cap arrangement
