Re: Saints to throw $1.4M/y at Coniglio
St Kilda is set to assemble a godfather offer for Giants star Stephen Coniglio in an audacious bid to lure him to Moorabbin.
Foxfooty.com.au understands the deal is worth upwards of $1.4 million per season with a view to make Coniglio a Saint for life.

If we have money to spend why not spend it... no use having empty cap space, Coniglio is a gun and would easily slide into our top 5 players if we can get him.

It will end exactly like every other star we have chased, whilst Richardson is still at the club.

This is the first supposed offer I’d be truly excited about if the player (through some miracle) actually accepted.
Coniglio is not just a gun player but he has onfield leadership qualities that we desperately need.
Throw the farm and the sink at him. How could it hurt?

It would take our midfield to the next level.
I would also throw a crap load of money at Sexton from the GC.

The only concern I have is what it does to the existing playing group. Otherwise, it's a no brainer.SemperFidelis wrote: ↑Mon 17 Jun 2019 8:12pm This is the first supposed offer I’d be truly excited about if the player (through some miracle) actually accepted.

Re: Saints to throw $1.4M/y at Coniglio
The need for this type of player is so evident for us to take the next step.
Why I fail to understand is how we will keep all the players happy if he is getting that type of coin.
Scenario - Billings signs for 2 and then at the end of 2021wants something in comparison to CONIGLIO money.
“ I he is getting 1.4 I deserve 1.1 for example. That’s the risk I guess but what can you do we just can’t take the next step without a player like that.”

The Tigers have Riewoldt, Rance, Martin all on big deals. Then they find a spare $1M a year to sign Lynch. I reckon we'll be OK.Vazelos wrote: ↑Tue 18 Jun 2019 9:22am The need for this type of player is so evident for us to take the next step.

I would love to have the problem of "having salary cap issues because we've got too many talented players", compared to the problem at the moment of "how do we meet the AFL's minimum cap spend amount".

Guy on Talking Footy said we’re not in the race, it’s between WCE, Hawks and North I think he said.

I think the theory is to assemble the group of players and when the team is premiership material they will take a pay cut
to keep the squad together and win a flag.
It would be nice to pickup 2x750k players instead if/when this Cogilio deal falls over

Re: Saints to throw $1.4M/y at Coniglio
Most journos would just be guessing. There'll be 10 or more clubs making offers
I think he is gettable with that sort of coin. Lethlean will redeem himself to all Saints fans if he can pull this off.
If there is any whiff of any obstacles and if Cho is being discussed by Coniglio or his management as the possible obstacle, then St Kilda board and CEO need to act NOW

Not coming.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

I think that this is the sheedy manoeuvre. Drive up the price for the likes of coniglio, and see who gets squeezed out at the bottom end. If they were really after him it would be hush hush.
*Allegedly.
