We must have a whole team of spuds in Sandy,
otherwise Newnes would be dropped by now.

Re: Drop Newnes
Needs to go back to the 2s for a long spell. He's done. He's a total liability out there. Would rather be getting game into players like DL, Coff and Patton.
If Hanners plays well tomorrow reckon they'll move on him.

Re: Drop Newnes
Cho can't drop Newnes
There is superglue on the 'Newnes' magnet (sneaky by Jill )and Cho knows the club has a $12m debt. He's already gone through a few magnet boards over the years with Longer and Weller also getting their hands on the superglue

Re: Drop Newnes
That passage in the first quarter where he was free, Bruce lead and made acres of pace for himself and Newnes just needed to kick it somewhere in his vicinity for an easy mark and goal... Newnes had all the time in the world to steady and kick. But he just sent it out of bounce, nowhere near Bruce.
Just summed him up. Not an effective player. Richo loves him because he has a big tank and two or three times a game he runs back hard to push the ball out of bounce or runs back hard to make a spoil.
I agree he needs to be dropped

Re: Drop Newnes
Newnes is an endurance runner, he runs to space and creates options.
Agree that he not very good at football, but he need to be replaced by somebody else who can perform that role, ideally a smart user.

Re: Drop Newnes
I have an opinion on Newnes and Sinclair, and that is
they are very keen on fitness and gym work;
they are purely athletic,
with a smattering of footy skills.
I think they are 70% athletes, and 30% footballers.
I've met many examples of this type of gym junkie over the years-
they are more interested in the fitness and endurance than
the technique of whatever sport they fall into.
Look, years ago you had guys with a lot of talent, like Plugger, Dunstall, etc, who weren't necessary athletic
(Plugger had asthma) but they used brute strength and cunning, and they were very smart.
Newnes and Sinclair don't give a rat's about technique or tactics, and it shows in how they play.
I think they enjoy getting to the ball, beating their opponent to it, but afterwards, don't care (as much as they should)

Re: Drop Newnes
Yep agree, another good report on him this week from Sammy.
” He’s been good Daulton, we’re really happy with how Doults has been going. Really strong and pleasing, been good on the inside with his big body Langers and also spreading really well out on the wing.
He’s not far away landers, his kicking was a feature again today & we like his work and think doultlang will get his chance in the next few weeks.“

Re: Drop Newnes
Sinc's was far better than Jack on Saturday, and apart from a couple of good games early in the year by Jack, is usually far better all togetherWellardSaint wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jun 2019 7:24pm I have an opinion on Newnes and Sinclair, and that is

Re: Drop Newnes
Jack Newnes will equal the club record of 123 consecutive games IF he is selected this week. I really hope this doesn't influence the selection process. I think many on here have been harsh on Jack in recent years, but he must be dropped after his performance against the Suns.

Re: Drop Newnes
The quality Newnes brings (yes, I believe there is one!!) is that he has an eye to the whole gameplan not just to his part in it. Now, I know that his skills sometimes let him down but IMO he has great awareness of what other players are doing. Witness that he is almost always first to spot when a teammate is injured or in difficulty and when out of position it's usually because he was trying to cover somebody else.
I'm influenced I know by the knowledge that Dempster touted Newnes as captain material. I think that was partly because of his versatility and partly because of the care he shows for others.
I know he's the whipping boy on here but I think that can just become a habit of mind with the result that every mistake he makes is magnified. Compare his stats with Acres - everybody's darling. They're not much different - and where they are different they're just as often better as worse.

Re: Drop Newnes
My guess Freely is that in 2016 he set himself a benchmark, one that he's not looked like coming close to since.
Billings is setting himself a new benchmark this year. If come 2021 he's not come close to it again, he'll be back on the smorgasbord of scapegoats.
In regards to Acres, I'm not sure he's been afforded the same luxuries that Newnes has. Whether that's been a season or even a run of 10 games in the same position. It appears the club expects more from Acres and judge him harder. I'm not sure either that there's a majority on here seeing him as a darling.

Re: Drop Newnes
That pass he missed running straight at Bruce in space and to miss him by 10 metres was sjmply embarrassing. Newnes is the epidemy of Richo, a battler who cant finish and should be sent from the club immediately.

You mean 'epitome' which doesn't fit at all.
Try again.
I kmow what you're TRYING to say, but like Newnes,
you missed the target

Impatient sainter got the thought right - the spelling wrong -
epitome
/ɪˈpɪtəmi,ɛˈpɪtəmi/
noun
1.
a person or thing that is a perfect example of a particular quality or type.
Kind of like KNOWING what someone is trying to say!
