Yes exactly others we can trade but really what would we get in return for them.
At least Billings would have some coin if we were to put him up to trade.

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
We would be mad to trade Billings.
Just comming of age now, has had some outstanding patches of play this season. Yes he's inconsistent, but so are most under 25 players.
He has what you should never trade, Class.
Excellent skills, good mark. Beginning to read the play better.
Must lock Marshall ASAP.

I'm not an AFL player, but if I were in their shoes,
I'd wait until much later in the season to check for whispers about replacing Mr Positive
with a proper coach who knows what he's doing.
If Richo might stay on, I'd be telling my manager I want out.

AgreedGhost Like wrote: ↑Mon 10 Jun 2019 4:34pm Yep, cannot see why an ordinary side would get rid of one of its better 2019 performers. I would have thought that player would be the type to keep. Plenty of other soil there to turn over.
The idea would be to get more contributors into the team and even out the spread of talent so that we have more speedy, foot skills - not get rid of arguably the best outside'ish mid we have
If Billings was the 5th or 6th mid in your top 22, you'd have a good top 22

3 year extension for Roma is done. He deserves every cent, his output this year for a kid who’s played 20 games has been nothing short of remarkable.

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
Billings and Marshall will be offered big contracts imo.
Dunstan I'm not sure on yet. List management will be watching him very closely for the rest of the year.

Exciting prospect Rowan Marshall is set to stay a Saint, signing a new three-year deal.

He's ranked just behind Gawn n Grundy in 3 or 4 stats, contested possies, etc.
I don't know his goal numbers, but when he has a set shot, I don't get nervous

Great news about Marshall, very strange that Billings hasn’t signed yet? Dunstan I am a fan of but needs to string 10 good games together ,nearly up to the 100 game mark & gets dropped regularly!!?

From the herald sun
Saints ruckman inks new deal
Tim Michell
Emerging ruckman Rowan Marshall has inked a new three-year deal with St Kilda.
The 23-year-old has been one of the most improved AFL players of 2019, averaging 17 disposals, three marks and 26 hit outs per game after becoming entrusted as the Saints No.1 big man.
“His performances and the way he has embraced the challenge of his new role this year is reflective of the overall attitude with which he approaches his football," Saints list manager James Gallagher said.
Taken at pick No.10 in the 2017 rookie draft, Marshall said he had relished the added responsibility of being St Kilda's first choice ruckman.
“I feel like I’ve really learned a lot during my time, especially the past eight months or so, and I’m excited to keep growing and learning," he said.
“I really believe in what we’re building and I’m looking forward to being part of it.”

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
That's because he's a natural forward who played as a forward before he grew to 200cm+ and hence, ruckman size. He actually knows what he's doing when he goes forward - much like McEvoy did for us/still does for the Dawks.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 9:53amHe's ranked just behind Gawn n Grundy in 3 or 4 stats, contested possies, etc.

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
Roma done. Now for billings. I hope he isn't holding out for more money as his current form is improving but nowhere near elite yet.
Dunstan I'm not sold on. He has had great patches before but then will have game after game of mediocrity until he gets dropped to sandy.bid say wait until year end and maybe a year extension possibly two

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
I think he is one of those types that needs a coach to value what he can offer and not be rigid on a mindset as to what he should able to do. Greg Williams comes to mind.PADDLEPOP1001 wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 10:54am Great news about Marshall, very strange that Billings hasn’t signed yet? Also think Acres is a similiar case and both could be stars under a different structure.
I would sign him up pretty quickly

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
Good news and great that the club got it signing priorities right in signing Marshall ahead of Billings and Dunstan.
Billings has been at St.Kilda since 2014 and in my mind Marshall has shown more than Billings in the short time he has been at the club.

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
Our record of trading 1st round draft talent to other clubs has seen them play their best football at their new clubs. Aka Lunch, McEvoy, Stanley. We put the time and effort into Billings and now he is a maturing 23yr old ish, getting plenty of the ball and we let him go. Nuts!

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
Massive signing Marshall today, hes 5th on average playing ratings amongst all rucks this season and has the potential to make the step up to be one of the games best ruckman in due course. Wouldn't be surprised if his next contract in 2022 is in the millions.

Champion Data also ranked Melbourne as the number one team at the start of the season. Maybe not the most reliable source.Crossy66 wrote: ↑Sun 09 Jun 2019 11:21pmHe's doing well Ted, and I wouldn't argue whether he is 7, 5 or fourth as he is our best performed big man this year.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sun 09 Jun 2019 10:56pm RoMa is in our top 5. Will be close to the comps best ruck in a couple of years too.
Interesting though champion data rank him 22th best ruckman atm, but I dont know the criteria, but it's more than just taps

Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
Champion data ranks on rolling two season basis that is why his rating is so low. His average rating this season is 5th in the competition (amongst all rucks) with only Grundy, Gawn, Witts and Mcevoy ahead.StPeter wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jun 2019 6:11pmChampion Data also ranked Melbourne as the number one team at the start of the season. Re: Contracts for Billings, Roma, Dunstan
Hes also the second highest St Kilda rated player based on avg. player ratings per game this season behind Jack Steele, for those playing at home.
