Yes, happens time and time again. Players lift when they lose an important player, they knew they have to go in harder, and at least they knew then they would lose the hit outs, so they could concentrate on sharking to the opposition ruck. Just got home though, could really have done with Longer in the last qtr.

"Incredibly short sighted" to enjoy a win? You miserable twat.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 11:42pmIncredibly short sighted.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 11:27pm
Facts are, whether you win by 1 point or 100 points you only get 4 premiership points. Savour every one of them if you are a true Saints supporter.
Like I said earlier, some supporters are satisfied with scraping passed the bottom team.
And some supporters are satisfied with premierships.
If you've been a Saints supporter for more than five minutes you will know that wins are getting harder to come by. Yes, for sure, an anonymous genius on the other end of the internet only accepts premierships, and the main problem with our club is there are not enough supporters with the guts to be abusive on an anonymous fan forum.
You may be heroically unsatisfied, but I'm pretty sure that my team is just as successful as yours. Cheers!

But why change anything, we won! Who cares if it was only kicking 9 goals (continual problem) to scrape by the worst team in the comp. Papering over the cracks?? Naaah, it’s aaaall gooooood!!

I don't think many saints supporters are "only satisfied with premierships"! Well, only the terminally unsatisfied ones! If you are barracking for the saints I strongly recommend you find an alternative source of satisfaction.

Carlton will beat the Bombers this week - for the same reason as they pushed us - because Essendon will be missing four of their best players.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Mon 27 May 2019 2:34amhave a look at our %

So tell us, how does that make you feel? Superior? Deluded? Lacking integrity? Do you feel like you have lost control? Maybe you feel cheated. At the stage we’re at (8th year into a rebuild...) I just want to see us play well, winning and losing is irrelevant.satchmo wrote: ↑Mon 27 May 2019 8:58amYou can be happy or sad, cheerful or angry, pleasant or sarcastic. It's your choice. Obviously the more you play well the more you win. But I would rather play a great game and have lots of the boys performing and lose, rather than serve up the crap we did on the weekend and fall over the line against the bottom team.

An excellent and well articulated digest of where we are at. Yes, it was ugly yesterday at times, but the win is all that matters at this stage!!samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 9:06pm Bit harsh - A team which hasn't had it's All Australian Defender, it's #1 Draft Pick, A three-time (I think?) All Australian recruit, a defender we swapped a second round pick for, and it's two best players, including its captain and it's Centre Half Back for nearly the entire season, has won half its games in an extremely difficult season and people are angry.
We've beaten Essendon, Hawthorn and Carlton, and to a lesser extent Melbourne, and have blooded a raft of new players with our new full-forward showing a bit in the reserves, with Clark and Coffield probably ready to come back in and people aren't happy.
Wow, some people are hard to please. If I knew that we would have the injuries we've had this year there is no way I would've thought we'd have won 5 games out of the first 10.
I am one of few on here who don't believe that many of our long term injured will be back this season due to the nature of their injuries and limited pre-seasons, but in a way, it might be a blessing in disguise if they don't play at all/again this season.
We will turn the whole list over and be better placed next season. Guys we were never going to win more than 9 matches this season anyway, and we were always going to have to hit free agency hard at the end of the season anyway, so we may as well see what the youth and new faces in the team have to offer.
I think we have had a reasonably successful season so far myself.

I’d argue that your initial opinion that anyone in this thread is celebrating like we won the flag is objectively wrong. Re: Saints 5-5 and in equal 7th
Well, I thought we'd win between 3-6 games this year and be in the bottom 4, then with our injuries I thought we'd struggle to win a game.
Actually a lot of credit to the coaches, they've developed us into possibly the best tackling and pressure side in the competition. To be 5-5 at this point, and probably without an A grade talent is just amazing.
And to be fair, there has been improvement in a number of players, Marshall, Billings, Battle, Wilkie, Gresham, Savage, Steele and Dunstan may all be having a career-best season.

Re: Saints 5-5 and in equal 7th
The problem with that thinking is that we're equal on points with the 7th team but have the worst percentage of the teams that have won 5 games. Hence if we can win by a lot when we win (instead of a little) we would be in the 8.Trev from the Bush wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 11:27pm Facts are, whether you win by 1 point or 100 points you only get 4 premiership points.
