It’s not a storm in a tea cup anymore for Paddy or Dylan Ted? Perhaps check your facts before you type next time Ted.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 8:42pm Nice to see you make fun and bait about a Saint whose life is on the rocks. Nice job!
The kid is close to friends of ours and we are very sad for his situation. As he said today, and I wrote a couple of weeks ago he is improving and getting better test results that a couple of months ago.
The kid wants to go around again and I hope he gives it another crack assuming his long term safety is not at risk.

Re: Paddy out for the year
In addition to Wilkie, we have Steele, Marshall, Long, Austin, Paton, Parker, Sinclair, Hind and Young who were all eligible for at least one draft they didn't get selected in. A lot of those players wound up costing a lot more in terms of draft currency than the nothing any player we pick up on Monday night will cost us.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

Re: Paddy out for the year
It is terrible for Paddy. I imagine a lot of posters here have experienced worse - plenty in the general population do all the time. It is terribly sad/unfortunate but he has his youth, and if we believe the talk that he may play again, a big proportion of his health. A lot don't. He can afford a house and should get a good job and his girlfriend loves him and he has a supportive family and group of friends. Can a person really want more.

“Just the little things that I probably took for granted before, I can't do (now).
“Whether it's going to the supermarket or going to a cafe with my girlfriend, driving a car or anything like that.
“It's been hard but hopefully I can get better.”
McCartin is suffering from light and sound sensitivity, wakes up in pools of sweat and has headaches that require drugs to help him sleep.
He has better days as his recovery drags on, but his worst days are just as bad as they have ever been.
Despite all of that he isn't considering retirement, but neither is he thinking about getting back on the field.
"I haven't thought about that much but playing is going to be a by-product of me feeling better again,” he said.

Totally agree with the first one. Limit the risk.
As it turns out Petracca isn’t much chop at the moment but contributes.

Absolutely gutted for him.
He's hurting. Bad.
"Lost his identity". Holy s*** this poor kid.
Time to drop the personal agenda's and work out what his next steps are.

Re: Paddy out for the year
I understand he is really fragile ATM but when he is finally well enough to make a decision he needs to be
encouraged to retire. I am sure the club have his long term health interests at heart but in reality he should have had this enforced after the last concussion. Putting him back out there has nearly destroyed his life.
How many players does this have to happen to before the AFL realizes they have an issue. I also follow NRL which is considered by some a thugs game, but honestly the AFL would out strip them when it comes to concussion incidents.

Re: Paddy out for the year
I listened to the interview today and it opened my eyes as to how serious this is. It was gut wrenching to hear what he's going through and I wish Paddy all the best in his recovery. Footy isn't even a consideration at the moment, it's all about getting on top of these symptoms he's experiencing which are ruining his life frankly. I hope to God for his sake that we never see him on the footy field again. AFL is a brutal game and the next head knock may lead to even more serious consequences.
He's a young man with his whole life ahead of him...not worth jeopardising his health for the sake of kicking a ball around.....much more to life.

Sentence 3 is a bit questionable but I get the gist.Toy Saint wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 10:05pmace wrote: ↑Sun 26 May 2019 12:19pm We need to get rid of the political correctness disease.

But totally agree with sentence 2 - it is so much harder for a diabetic to achieve elite fitness.
Picking Paddy was a mistake from the word go.
Number 1 picks are scarce and should be used to pick up a rock solid 200 gamer, not a speculative roll of the dice.
Sentence 4 is undoubtedly true.
Long will be a star but has struggled in recent weeks and was only played today for PC reasons.
In summary, you go for long shots with 3rd/4th/rookie picks not first round picks and especially not #1 picks!

Re: Paddy out for the year
Long wasn't 'only' played for PC reasons. The main reason he was played was because the coaches thought he would contribute and he did.
I was surprised when they played Long in the early games this year or in the game against Melbourne but he did well.
I was surprised last year when his form was just average at Sandringham and he was picked ahead of a few others, but once again, he did well. We won matches and I think he played a big part in the draw against GWS too.
He was recruited because of what he could offer as he builds confidence and as he gains experience. If he is motivated by Indigenous round and if the coaches use this round to help him gain confidence on his journey as an AFL player then I'm all for it....especially when he plays his role and we win

Re: Paddy out for the year
McCartin is NOT our for the season.
He is out for life.
No sane person would allow him to play again given the damage that has occurred this time.

Re: Paddy out for the year
We picked a poorly performing Kent for the Melbourne game and no one on here seemed to have an issue with the “give him a chance to show what he’s got against his old mob” rationale.
But then again, he’s white.

Go back and re-read the pre-Melbourne game threads and you will see their were plenty of posts questioning Kent's selection for the Dees game.

How can we have a player with a racist name on our list ?
Has he been told that he won't get a game until he changes his name and apologises publicly ?
