Gresham, Long, Parker, Young on Sunday
Given its aboriginal round....anyone else get the feeling these fellas are going to really turn it on this Sunday?
I'm getting memories of Winmar and McAdam.

I don’t want this to be seen as a criticism or get me banned, even though I don’t think it’s breaking any rules.
But are you actually just a PR mouthpiece for the club?

Did you actually watch either player play?
If so why compare our youngsters to such very talented players?
Or does watching Sinclair play give you memories if Ross Smith?

I'm really excited to see what these boys can do given the significance of the round to them. I don't the majority of non Aboriginals understand how much it means to them.

Re: Gresham, Long, Parker, Young on Sunday
Whilst I’m not a fan of Long at this stage and think he just got a game because it’s indigenous round, reality is that’s what the club wants.
So.....
Cuz and Gilbo McAdam need to be on the bench geeing up their brothers!
How good would that be???

I hope they tear it up. All of them can play. We are certainly a fast side now, and potentially a skilful one, no excuses this week against an ordinary opponent.
Nee!

I would rather they do it for the significance of the jumper, week in, week out (ala Jack Steele) than get up for one round. Hoping they do play blinders and realise they can do it every week if they will themselves.
If not tomorrow, then I'm sure Mao Tse Clark, Chan Coffield, Wang White and Sweet n Sour Hind will have a real crack in Shanghai.

Well the club certainly has a sense of occasion, plus we will see how they handle the weight of expectation. They need to kick a four goals between them for us to win and I sincerely hope they can. Stand by for some epic speccy attempts from a couple of those men. Good luck to all in the 22, but particularly those four deadly musketeers.

They're playing for their heritage and future generations I guess.
I'm not Aboriginal so I don't or won't fully understand it like all of us.

... or is it a bit of box ticking?
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Re: Gresham, Long, Parker, Young on Sunday
The reality is with these guys in the side we are capable of producing something exciting. A lot of footy at the moment is boring negative, zoning BS. I am happy for AR to roll the dice and play a bunch of guys who might give us something memorable and if they play for each other out there it might bring a bit of excitement and spirit to the game.
Our forward line has been a big yawn this past month so I'm looking forward to the bone crunching tackles, speccies, big goals and fat celebrations.

Hey just a small point Ted, I think indigenous is preferred over aboriginal by the majority of the indigenous community.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sat 25 May 2019 12:02am Given its aboriginal round....anyone else get the feeling these fellas are going to really turn it on this Sunday?

Re: Gresham, Long, Parker, Young on Sunday
I expect more than 4 goals between these 4 players considering 3 are full-time fwds and 1 is a fwd who goes through the midfield.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Sat 25 May 2019 12:22pm Well the club certainly has a sense of occasion, plus we will see how they handle the weight of expectation. Re: Gresham, Long, Parker, Young on Sunday
Sorry guys, but I'm just not supportive of all these guys in the same team, When you add Kent to Long, Parker and Young our forward line suffers 'cause they're similar types and most of them just don't get enough of the ball.
Having one or two dynamic pressure types in the side is good, but not four.
If I was cynical, I'd almost suggest our selection was compromised by selecting Long for the Indigenous round, I felt he didn't do enough to warrant selection.
I'd prefer the forward line to swap one of these 'smalls' for a taller marking option. When Carslile gets back, I'd like to see Battle move forward. Until then, I'd even like to see Marsh replaced by Joyce or White in the back line and have Marsh forward.
Alternately, or even additionally, I'd prefer to have Hunter Clark or Coffield in the side, taking a share running through the middle and also spending time forward.

Gee parker's a cunning player! I know he missed a couple of gettable shots but his work around the ball and the frees he avoided or won for us with his smarts - clever stuff.

Re: Gresham, Long, Parker, Young on Sunday
Gresham did well without a hard tag, needs to do well with one.
It's worth watching parkers running during a game, he works hard but needs to get more of it. I dont think we can play all of parker kent, long and young in the same side again
