Re: Positives
Still a few positives today. Shame we still aren't converting when dominating. It's our biggest issue right now but to match it with a flag favourite for 3 qtrs was very positive. It's just a shame the last qtr ruined all that pure effort put in.
Young was pretty good first game as was Jonno Marsh at times.
Plus the millennial thinking generation of today have no patience, perseverance and resilience. They want instant results and everything delivered on a platter. Sorry but the world doesn't wash like that. The last couple of Saints games has positively reinforced that in my mind.

Re: Positives
Well said Apers. We are not far off it IMO once the dust settles and the emotion disappears.

Re: Positives
Settle pettle. I watched the saints through the 80s so I know what real ineptitude looks like. Today's effort with our lack of A grade players compared to the pies plethora of A grade talent was pretty good. For me, our team is much better drilled re: defensive structures across the ground, so that for me is a plus. Put a Sidebottom into our team and we start to get much more clean ball.ss1986 wrote: ↑Sat 18 May 2019 6:15pmWe are one loss closer to Richo getting the ass. Re: Positives
The first 3 quarters were positive, very much so. The final quarter was far from anywhere near good enough and it started in the midfield.

Re: Positives
Patience, perseverance, resilience? Haven't made the finals since 2011. Same problems year in year out. Don't look like making the finals for a few years yet.
Positives, Marshall, Young and Membrey.

Patience?? Last finals 2011 and last premiership 1966... How much more patient do we need to be?!?!tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sat 18 May 2019 6:25pm Still a few positives today. It’s kinda funny that the club has been the most patient in its history with our coach.The_Dud wrote:Patience?? Last finals 2011 and last premiership 1966... Herein lies the joy of following any pro sporting club across the globe old Dudley. You very rarely get to follow a club that has sustained success year after year.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sat 18 May 2019 7:40pmPatience?? Last finals 2011 and last premiership 1966... Re: Positives
They rotate opponents all the time these days, he might have kicked one on Marsh. Battle was the player that had a real stinker down back today, I wouldnt be surprised if he was carrying an injury.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sat 18 May 2019 7:21pmMarsh I believe was on Mihocek who regularly got off the chain.

Re: Positives
It’s always hard to find positives in a loss, but for the third consecutive week we dominated large periods of the game vs a genuine premiership contender. While we again failed to convert, we comfortably controlled a lot of play against a benchmark side.
Not even the most optimistic St Kilda supporter would have had a W next any of the last three games pre-season, so the competitiveness we’ve shown is a real positive. That said, if what we’ve learnt over the last month doesn’t translate into 7+ wins over the next 13 games, we’ve wasted a valuable lesson.
If we come out against Carlton and play the way we did over the first three quarters today, we’ll smack them.

Re: Positives
I agree. We are a much better coached team than last year. Our structures are much much better. However, we just dont have the players, in particualr midfielders to get the job done, hence the steps by the club to try to lure players from other clubs. Until we land one or two gun players we are going to struggle. Pies had class all over the field. We don't.Beno88 wrote: ↑Sat 18 May 2019 10:04pm It’s always hard to find positives in a loss, but for the third consecutive week we dominated large periods of the game vs a genuine premiership contender. Re: Positives
We had them on the ropes during the third two missed frees to Kent and Dunstan would have likely had us up by 13 points.
