eagles v dees.
Good match but geez the dees are worse kicks than our guys. Worst offenders are Jones who is a has been imho and Petracca who is just a so so footballer.

Re: eagles v dees.
8 free kicks to 1 in the last quarter so far Not that the free kicks necessarily have to be even but I have seen one throw which led to an Eagles goal not paid, and Cripps dropped the ball in a tackle and tackler not rewarded.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Re: eagles v dees.
WC has several excellent players that take full advantage of opposition mistakes and it seems to be getting the best of umpiring decisions recently (par for course in the West). McGovern and Hurn down back makes it no easy ride going forward for oppositions - I suppose coaches try to man them up but/or perhaps they just read the play too well. Eagles certainly well off its premiership pace though and need all the luck plus its few stars firing at the moment. But they keep winning and once a side is in the top 4.....Goodwin must be so frustrated that Gawn can dominate but Dees cannot capitalise.

Re: eagles v dees.
To be fair, the mark wasn't "over" Gawn, Ryan came in from the side, Gawn didn't see him, and based on the positioning of the players, no-one could have stopped it, as no-one was there to block him. Great mark, but even Gawn's effort was pretty good. Gawn was BOG and slaughtered WCE rucks. If Marshall can develop even half the hit out ability and positioning nous of Gawn, he will be a far better player.

Dog act by Vardy
Gawn BOG just ahead of Hurn
Seriously how good is Gawn’s tap work
Seriously how good a kick is Hurn
Dees will miss finals
All round good stuff

Marshall is 201cm and Gawn is 208cm according to footywire stats. Brody Grundy is 203cm as is Longer.takeaway wrote: ↑Sat 18 May 2019 9:54amTo be fair, the mark wasn't "over" Gawn, Ryan came in from the side, Gawn didn't see him, and based on the positioning of the players, no-one could have stopped it, as no-one was there to block him. I think Marshall may be a little short for a permanent full time ruck position. He can use his jump in the centre but not around the ground.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: eagles v dees.
It's pretty weird that Cho has agreed to go with a mobile ruckman that wins his own footy and contributes to clearances, rather than just a strong tap ruckman who competes strongly in ruck contest but doesn't contribute to clearances or as much around the ground.
It was quite clear that Cho wanted Longer as his number one ruckman in 2017. Longer also had first dibs in 2018 even though he went into rounds 1 and 2 with apparently some sort of pre-existing injury. Maybe it's just another example of Cho chopping and changing and he's done a full 180 degrees on the type of ruckman that he wants......or....it's just his assistants and the midfield coach who are really running the show
What I also find fascinating right now, is that Billy is playing some decent footy with Sandringham and yet there must be this feeling among the coaching group (and perhaps amongst the players) that he won't be as effective in the seniors. Would like to see them try the duo and experiment with the combo of Longer/Marshall. It will be important for our planning in 2020 and you'll only know if you give it a go. Give it a go Cho!!
