Josh Battle
Is he still eligible for the Rising Star? Clearly should be in the discussion if he is.

Yes - Can you believe the KID has only played 7 games prior to this year, and only 15 games in his stellar career - is tracking to be a legend!
However - he needs to cut a little flaw from his game - he has developed a nasty pushing habit if he is not in the marking contest - will get named and shamed if he is not careful - he cannoned a Weagle player into ours in front of us on Saturday and then on the replay I noticed he did it at least one other time - just a shove before the ball gets to the pack.

I noticed the same thing. Good to be aggressive but not overstep the mark.Sainter_Dad wrote: ↑Mon 13 May 2019 9:22amYes - Can you believe the KID has only played 7 games prior to this year, and only 15 games in his stellar career - is tracking to be a legend!

Very good player that we got for a bargain. He might just slightly balance out the failed Paddy pick.

Re: Josh Battle
Keep him back as he is a good decision maker, marks well, intercepts, is a good kick and can read the play. When Carlisle comes back as a tall then Battle will get even better.
Master stroke move by Richo and the coaches. Absolute master stroke to put him back. His progression to a back reminds me of Sicily's move.
I don't think Battle is required up forward when we have Bruce and Membrey there and especially when King eventually comes on. I also think its a massive priority to recruit a quality ruck in the off season so Marshall can go forward at times if required to supplement the above 3.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Josh Battle
So when Carlisle returns who does he replace?
I would hate to see Wilkie go, he is just about our best deliverer by foot.
Battle should stay and could develop into a 10 year CHB
Mackenzie or Webster?
I think one of these guys will need to find a new spot..
Geary also fits in back there as the spare, or could release Steele as a tagger.

Wilkie to the wing as a link up player.

Re: Josh Battle
Could he play higher up forward a bit like Tom Walsh plays for Adelaide or Ryan O’Keefe did at Sydney?

Re: Josh Battle
Who's Tom Walsh? Lynch perhaps, haha.
I don't understand why everyone is so keen to take Josh out of the back line, he is killing it down there!

If he gets moved anywhere I want it to be just a little bit sideways when Carlisle returns and turn into a McGovern.

Meant Lynch.
Not keen for to play him anywhere. It was a question.
He’s doing great in the backline.

Re: Josh Battle
Sign Battle up to a 5 year deal. If we are going to take risks, at least take some on players who aren't injured.
With Jake Carlisle out and Josh Battle doing a great job at CHB, Saints should take out some insurance.
Battle already has a contract until 2020 so it's like a NEW 4 year extension
Even if Carlisle comes back in to the side this year and gets back to his old form next year it just makes sense to sign up the talented young blokes long term

Re: Josh Battle
Geary Wilkie Webster
Battle Carlise Savage
Going forward that's probably our best back six on paper.
Can Wilkie be a FB? Is he big enough?
DMac, Patton, Webster and Sav could be rotated though the wings and down back.
Still would like to see White and Hind in the mix at some stage. The knock on that back six, bar Sav, its pretty slow.
Some nice kicks there though.
Think Webster and Sav could be used more up the ground as their kicking could be real weapons for us.
Geary Wilkie DMac
Battle Carlise Patton
Webster Steele Savage
That dosnt look to bad! Some hard nuts there too.

Made the AFL team of the week.
That’s pretty impressive for a kid who’s played less than 10 games in the back half!

Re: Josh Battle
Hard to see why he hasn’t received a rising star nomination as he has been very consistent holding down a key position.SemperFidelis wrote: ↑Tue 14 May 2019 11:01pm Made the AFL team of the week.

Re: Josh Battle
His games last year showed that he's very creative; such a shame to waste that talent down back, when the team is horrible in the F50.
I think he's back because Jake n Robbo are out.
The coaches are all hoping that magically, our F50 tactics will start looking more fluid, precise and productive.
They invited Dermie over to teach forward craft.
Dermie shoulda been selected during Dec-Jan.
We got Slater in early.
Dermie is an acknowledgement that something ain't working.
On one hand, it's good that they're trying something, but isn't it reactive not proactive?

+1 wasted down back. And we have lost every game since Dermott arrived.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Tue 14 May 2019 11:17pm His games last year showed that he's very creative; such a shame to waste that talent down back, when the team is horrible in the F50.
