So we had to be sure, to be sure, to be sure that our Irishman was out by posting it 3 times

Re: team for round 8
Armo would be in the team if he were 22 years old.
He would be part of the future.
Sadly he is seen as part of the past.
He will only get games if injuries force the selectors hand.

Re: team for round 8
I think a few players will need to put in hard in this match to hold their places- too many passengers last week, and a few the week before. Doesn't seem to be a lot of pressure from Sandy Saints for positions sadly- maybe Hind aside. Armo is now a good VFL player at this stage of his career, but as said before, is probably insurance if we lose too many through injury.

As you say there is little pressure on most of the incumbents, unfortunately. White surely must be close. Long might be getting enough rope. Battle on Darling will be interesting. Shame ex-ruck Hickey isn't making the trip. But that young Archie is already an emergency - WCE sucking up to the Royals!

Re: team for round 8
I thought we might have started tanking last week but this week our beloved Cho has confirmed (for me personnally at least) that he and his match committee have NFI.
What a confidence boost for Darragh. Bring him in to play 1 game on the best full forward currently in the competition, and then axe him. If you weren't sure all you armchair experts...that's called developing your talent
Nathan Brown is a senior player and they learn their lessons a lot quicker than younger blokes, so I'm sure he won't go back to playing the way he has usually played over the last 3 years. He would have gained a lot of confidence in the VFL because apparently that's where you build confidence. We need him to play well and we had a plan to bring him straight back in when we were playing at home at Marvel. Disciplined coaches stick to their plan and...anyhow that's what I promised Nath
Y'see we're still in with a big chance to win 10 or more games this year. The statistics tell you that it is so...after winning your first 4 out of 7 the maths is clear. Park aside all our injuries. Park aside that half our team are AFL novices. You have to back in your senior players (apart from Armo of course) and you never know...we might sneak into the 8 and stranger things have happened. You can't deny it

what a crap post, Joyce was so far out of his depth last week blind Freddie could see that. Brown shouldn't have been dropped in the first place, has been good all year for us and is the leader of our defensive unitScollop wrote: ↑Thu 09 May 2019 9:11pm I thought we might have started tanking last week but this week our beloved Cho has confirmed (for me personnally at least) that he and his match committee have NFI.

Great strategy from our coach to play a kid when an experienced backman was available to play against GWS
I was angry last week and confused why Brown was dropped and Darragh was set up for failure. Crap coaching
And by the way....What a waste of time reading your post. Sycophant

Such a shame you can't be more positive really, each to their own, not one to judge others, however I'll just have to stick with safety in numbers, so I'll stick with all the players that are re-signing with the club and the mountains of other inner sanctum people that believe in the process, all the best to you and your belief's, go well darling.Scollop wrote: ↑Thu 09 May 2019 9:11pm I thought we might have started tanking last week but this week our beloved Cho has confirmed (for me personnally at least) that he and his match committee have NFI.

Richo, Richo, Richo....give it a rest.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: team for round 8
I am just amused that last week's debacle / insipid showing by a St Kilda football team falls at the feet of an irishman with half a dozen games, a bloke who played his first AFL game in 3 years and a 2nd year kid.
You'd expect / hope that some more senior players may be playing this weekend to avoid lengthy stints in the VFL, save face and restore some pride in themselves.
Richo is coaching for our next win, I can see why he's chosen the team he has, he is limited by the number of deck chairs left. I hope he's not desperate enough to play Webster and Newnes if they are injured, they both play the roles we have more than enough cover for.

Re: team for round 8
Say what you will about Scallop but at least when he posts his opinion his focus is football and he explains his views. His last post in this thread was followed by 3, just be positive it’s bad to be negative posts.
This forum would be better if opinions were followed up with substance instead of hey that’s bad.
There’s a lot of anti-Richo sentiment on this site but it’s there because ppl don’t agree or believe that he’s on the right path and the majority express why they think that. This constant be more positive push is quite tiresome... if you disagree, rebut the opinion if you can

Re: team for round 8
It's difficult for me to be critical of this weeks team, the fact is that we are in the top 8 already, and we can expect to start getting good players back after the bye. Believe it or not, we are a chance for the finals. And we are playing a good team who are not playing well at our home ground. There is a chance we could win. As such, I'd prefer the selectors to pick a team that gave us the best chance to win.
Last week they chose the more agile Joyce against Cameron, good in theory, but it failed. West Coast have the biggest monster forwards in the competition, and that's why we have Brown, so it's horses for courses.
We've been slaughtered out of the middle, and Dunstan should help there, he a good at getting the ball. He replaces Hunter who would be fringe at most clubs at this stage of his development.
Philips for Marsh effectively gives us more run through the middle and a smaller, quicker forward line. This selection tells the world that we've decided to but their big tall team against our quick running team, and roll the dice. The odds are still in their favor, but we've given ourselves a chance.
We've got a couple under an injury cloud, and Long and Kent who's form probably warrants a rest, but they are the ideal types for this game plan. If there's a late change, I'd expect Hind would be the ideal replacement.
My key complaint with the selection committee is their decision for Bruce to play injured, a decision I strongly disagree with. If he's not 100% get a fit person into the team, Marsh was actually better than Bruce last week.
In summary, I feel the selectors have given us a team that has the potential to defeat last years premiers.

Re: team for round 8
It was a strange decision to drop Brown but one thing we learned about Darragh Joyce he had a major set back for his career I think the coaching staff would have lost a lot of confidence in him and he may not be seen back for quite some time.
Clark is struggling, Dunstan has earned his come back but he is running out of chances to stay at St Kilda.
If Steven and Hannebery were playing he wouldn’t get a look in.
People say there isn’t quality in the Zebras with all the injuries I say there are a few who have an AFL career with opportunity:
Hind- is a beauty and can’t wait to see him
Langlands- can play this boy has a future
B White- has been on the cusp for awhile.
B Rice- I read he is showing something as a forward
Coffield- only 19 showing some form
Clark- still physically developing will be a player
R Young- unlucky not to get his chance
Put the injured players in that will actually come back this season like Carlisle Steven Hannebery Lonie and Geary and I believe we have some depth.

Re: team for round 8
Hope this is right - that this is the way we're thinking. Shows real growth, I think, and confidence in the players when we start to focus on beating the other team as opposed to fielding 'our best team' and 'playing our way'.Toy Saint wrote: ↑Fri 10 May 2019 8:46am It's difficult for me to be critical of this weeks team, the fact is that we are in the top 8 already, and we can expect to start getting good players back after the bye.
