Low on experience
We have 9 players out there today with an average of 10 games played. And here we are, expecting us to be highly competitive. That's a healthy sign.
Wilkie 6
Joyce 3
Clark 17
Marshall 17
Long 18
Battle 13
Paton 6
Parker 6
Marsh 15
At the start of the year, if you'd told me the following players were unavailable, I would have held much less optimism about our potential to be competitive
Hannebery
McCartin
Roberton
Carlisle
Geary

As you say it is healthy for our rebuild...but not that healthy if you want to be competitive over a long seasoncwrcyn wrote: ↑Sat 04 May 2019 2:23pm We have 9 players out there today with an average of 10 games played. And here we are, expecting us to be highly competitive. That's a healthy sign.

And yet if you have a look at the Votes thread in the next couple of days I reckon you'll find that there'll be more votes for our newbies rather than the others who played versus GWS today

Geelong just copied Hawthorn and recruited on the back of success.Special wrote:I’m over 7 years of rebuilding.
Prefer the Geelong method, but sadly no one wants to come to us.
We need to do a Footscray Flag Fluke. It’s our only hope.
We missed our chance to emulate.
This crop looks like it has potential. With our new coaches, I am optimistic.
I just hope some experience can come back so we don’t do a Carlton.

Building games into these players will be enormous in another 2-3 years.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Yep! Right about the time of contract renewals and we lose them because we are still paying someone who cant get on the park $800k a year.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sat 04 May 2019 7:52pm Building games into these players will be enormous in another 2-3 years.

Go away. Have we lost anyone we didn't want in the last 5 years? Answer..no.
The negative BS is ridiculous. Get a grip.

Re: Low on experience
If we beat the Eagles next week with the young list we have it will build immense self-belief. Our biggest issue is our forward line. It is absolutely dysfunctional, and our midfielders never kick enough goals either. The game plan still needs big changes.Scollop wrote: ↑Sat 04 May 2019 5:55pmAs you say it is healthy for our rebuild...but not that healthy if you want to be competitive over a long seasoncwrcyn wrote: ↑Sat 04 May 2019 2:23pm We have 9 players out there today with an average of 10 games played. PM me Cairnsman. If you are so offended bc the club employs you, let’s catch up and give me a chance to vent, and you a chance to explain why we are going in the right direction.Cairnsman wrote: ↑Sat 04 May 2019 8:13pmYou'll make the place great when you overthrow the board. Do you know that calling some a keyboard warrior and wanting a face to face just makes you a keyboard warrior?
What are you expecting to happen?
Even if I was Bruce Lee I wouldn’t meet up with some stranger telling me their opinion was more valid than my own.

No one has wanted our players over the last 5 years to warrant paying a premium to them.

I am more than happy to be called a keyboard warrior bc I am comfortable that im coming from the right place - wanting the best for my football club.
I am equally comfortable explaining my position to anyone from the club that wants to meet with me face to face.
It’s not a threat...

Fact is is that we have retained all our best players and developing players for many years now. That is the truth and a very good sign.

And followed up with ‘keyboard warrior’.
Maybe not a direct threat, but seemed threatening.

Re: Low on experience
So why not double down. Flick journeymen with plenty of experience of losing (because they are not going to benefit from more of it) and give youth the experience some will not handle it and some will say losing all the time is BS and we want better and deliver - its just too late for several time servers in the team to get better. And use crowd voting to decide draft picks - the median of our diverse and possibly demented by years of failure judgement could not be worse than what the pros have dished up. Tossing a coin would do better actually.

Re: Low on experience
You know right now we’re in the 8 right? And there’s a clutch of teams still 2-3 wins behind us after 7 rounds? Not even considering our huge injury list? What were you hoping for at start of season, 6-1? 7-0? That’s nice..,ss1986 wrote: ↑Sat 04 May 2019 8:21pmPM me Cairnsman. Re: Low on experience
Comparing to the playing the same team at the same venue 6 yrs ago we had 1 player out there yesterday .
They had 7
Both of the teams had experienced players out
And our most experienced backman played with a broken hand much of the game after one if the regular kick of the ground options used by GWS
