I've been known to yell it just before the opening bounce. The joy of this is that most folks turn to glare at you, and in doing so miss the bounce!

I love how some on here have the arrogance to think they can decide what makes a ‘good’ or ‘bad’ supporter based purely on their own personal preferences...

As a rule I always stay till the end of the match, it's not loyalty rather a fear of potentially missing something important (FOMO) like a spectacular mark or brilliant goal. And I've got absolutely no problem with the folks who prefer to leave when we're losing.

The last time I left early was the 2010 Grand Final, I'm sorry but I just didn't want to be there with all those arrogant feral bogans celebrating. And I have no regrets.
In over 800 games I've left early 4 times - once to go to a wedding, twice my kid was ill, and like Toy Saint I left the 2010 GF replay before 3/4 time because i was just overwhelmed with the enormity of what we had missed out on and simply couldn't stand the excruciating disappointment any longer.

As Dud said, the team had given up so what’s the point in staying?

At least I turned up unlike many whom didn’t.

After the past 7 seasons of hell I can’t be arsed sitting at all losing games till the bitter end.
You do realise we were 12/10 and 11/11 in the two years before last year?

I couldn't go to 2009 or 10 but in 1997 we left in the last quarter because, like a few on here, we could not handle the arrogant crows supports any longer knowing we couldn't win.

Yeah I try to stay until the bitter end, even when we're on the wrong end of a shellacking. May as well stick it out. We don't attend football matches with the plan of leaving early.

Last year, I saw hundreds of Carlton supporters leaving at half time against their match against Fremantle. Weak effort.

Those pricks were bad weren't they, but not as obnoxious as the great unwashed filth in 2010.

Have always stayed until the end - the Barry Hall R22 game in 2001 made me swear I'd never leave a game early.

However, the world has changed. If leaving 5-10 minutes before the end of a lost game gets you home that much earlier - and often it does - I can live with it.

Stayed to the end in 2010. Should have left early.

With transport issues, a family is well advised to leave early to allow kids to be comfortable.
It's not like a church service or something.
They've alrealy paid their money, got bums on seats.
They've done better than the other thousands of members (we have 40,352) who didn't attend, for whatever reason.
I haven't used my Club Membership for admission purposes for years.
It is like a donation.

I use my MCC memberhip to buy a "Centre Wing members" seat (level 2 near the city wing) at Docklands, cost = $51.00 per match.
and the MCC members reserve level 3 balcony at the "G", cost free after subscription.
MCC full member subscription = $695
St Kilda FC membership = $214

Costs more than my internet and my internet does not let me down so often.

I remember Avery heated debate on here a few years ago on this very subject

My view is leaving early in no way lessens your support for the team. Most of us already put money and emotions into our support staying till the end does not enhance that

2010 we were drinking wine in the city by half way through last quarter.

When we lived in Melbourne and had seats in the members section on the western side we would sometimes start our walk around the ground (inside) towards the trains and be next to gate whatever it is to make a quick sprint to trains

I went with 7 others to 2010 (both). Obviously everyone stayed to the end for the first. However for the second, the 7 left 5 minutes into the last and headed to the car park. Couldn't blame them we were surrounded by flogs but I stayed, I'm not built to walk away. Certainly not built to give added satisfaction to other supporters.

To the antagonists credit, after their initial euphoria, they did shake my hand. I then joined my friends for a car park wake.

Each to their own. Staying would not have helped and I can assure you that their disappointment was as profound as mine.

The problem in 2010 was that when the saints fans started streaming out of dedicated saints bays, feral drunk filth supporters who had been standing behind the bays started to infiltrate the areas taking seats amongst saints and then adding insult to injury as is their want, started abusing and taunting them. I saw a number of fights break out and it became very unpleasant. Would not have happened if the saints supporters had stayed in their seats.

I was still pissed off later and from memory I contributed to that thread. I might even have started it. yeah I wasn't happy. Still have the same views and I would never leave a Saints match early, no matter the score.

But each to their own.
