The Crows Gane- A Watershed Moment
Everyone loves a winner. Me included. So loving the fact we are 4 and 1. Second on the ladder etc.
But....and it is a very big but. We face a nemesis team. If you believe in the boogeyman then he wears a Crows jumper.
Our record against Adelaide is beyond appalling. Eight games. Eight losses. They had our measure on every previous occasion.
Again it’s a but...if we can pull off a win then we’ve truly turned a corner, in my view. Our record says we can’t/won’t.
Records are made to be broken.
If we can beat the Crows then who knows what is possible for the rest of 2019.
Why am I placing such importance on this game? Because history says we won’t win. And I want to rewrite history.

Big game.
Massive month.
... Adelaide - GWS - WCE - Collingwood
We and the whole footy world will know exactly where we are at after those games.

"Gane": Scottish*, past participle of the word Go. Subject translation is then: Wee Southern Crow scunners are gone!
*Originally a remote part of Scotland occupied by fierce and stoic Vikings the name St. Kilda has come to represent all the best of Australian Rules Football (quote from Nordic soothsayer and entrails reader York E the Feeble).

Aye! But the wee suburb of Melbourne called St Kilda be named after the ship that ran aground there in the 1800s.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Sat 27 Apr 2019 7:57am "Gane": Scottish*, past participle of the word Go. Subject translation is then: Wee Southern Crow scunners are gone!

That ship be named after group of remote islands off the north west coast of Scotland, west of the Outer Hebrides.
St Kilda has also become home to the best that can be found in a pack of cards.
The islands of St Kilda are famous for the St Kilda wren and St Kilda field mouse and a legendary creature called the plugger.

OP is on the money.
Rapt with our form thia year, and could easily have won vs Freo.
But today against a good side back in form will tell us if we are really at the standard for finals.
Biggest game for along time.

Re: The Crows Gane- A Watershed Moment
I wouldn't exactly call it a watershed moment, though a win against a bogey team would be an important milestone.
Likewise are games against Sydney, Port, Geelong at Geelong. If we were to win at Geelong or at least go very close then we really have turned the corner and that would really be a watershed moment.

Maybe I’m imagining things, but I reckon we’ve played them more than 8 times and we won a few of those games.damienc wrote: ↑Sat 27 Apr 2019 12:57am

A fair bit OTT. Don't throw your toys outa the cot if we lose.

Meh.
They have been up while we have been down.
These things come around.

Re: The Crows Gane- A Watershed Moment
We have been the focus of well deserved positive media attention this week.
The challenge for the coaching staff is to ensure the group don’t get ahead of themselves and lose the focus on what has earned this great start to the season.
They will have a down period at some stage throughout the season so it’s important to bank some wins while you are in form and on a roll.
Agree this is an important game to retain momentum and not drop a very winnable game given a few really tough matches coming up in the next month.

Re: The Crows Gane- A Watershed Moment
Looks like it's going to be a decent crowd today. Win today and solidify our spot in the top two and we'll really start to see our fans coming back in droves.
Let's make some noise today and really use our home ground to our advantage.

Re: The Crows Gane- A Watershed Moment
Looking at the AFL website for our match today. It has the last 5 matches listed and we have lost them all with the minimum defeat being 46 points (4 were over there). Last year we played them on our own dome we call home in round 3 and lost by 49 points.
It's the bogey teams we have to beat if we want to really turn the corner and today is one of them. Go Saints!

Re: The Crows Gane- A Watershed Moment
The Crows effort in the GF in 17 is still one of the weakest in history IMO What better chance to win a flag with the usual heavyweights not your opponent Absolutely pathetic
They should’ve made the 05/06 gfs too but buggered up

I’m hopeful we can stop them in the second half. Not confident at all though. If we win from here I agree it’s a Watershed moment

worked last night, had a nice long sleep, got up this morning,
the sun is out, it's gonna be 30 deg in Perth today,
gotta wash the car, see new Avengers movie...
we lost, sure, but it's only a game.
See what happens next week.
