I said it should have been a free kick in the match thread but we got nothing as usual.

Can the suspensions from preseason be served in preseason? It would suck for a bloke to miss round 1 from a practice match rough conduct charge.

It'd suck do commit an act worthy of a rough conduct charge in a meaningless pre-season match, wouldn't it?

No - otherwise you could go out in JLT Round 1 and intentionally injure another player and only get 3 weeks - but they miss their preseason due to injury - you serve 2 in the JLT and then return for Round 2

JLT week 2
AFL

Dean Kent, Clayton Oliver, Aaron vandenBerg, Liam Shiels and Todd Marshall can accept financial sanctions.
Dees Clayton Oliver ($1500) and Aaron vandenBerg ($3000 for two incidents), as well as Saint Dean Kent, Hawk Liam Shiels ($2000) and Port’s Todd Marshall ($2000) can accept financial sanctions.
Speedy St Kilda forward Dean Kent was charged with engaging in rough conduct against the Western Bulldogs' Bailey Williams in the third quarter on Sunday, and will find himself $2000 poorer if he accepts the fine for the incident found to have been intentional conduct with low impact to the body.

Round 1
St Kilda is also counting its blessings, with star forward Gresham walking away unscathed from the Match Review following his high bump to Gold Coast youngster Wil Powell.

Gresham turned his body before collecting Powell, who was bending to find the footy, but the talented Sun was able to get to his feet and take his high-contact free kick.

However, the incident was thrown out by Christian, with Gresham free to play next week.

Why should we count our blessings if Gresham didn't do anything wrong?!

Round 1 and the MRO is already making weird decisions. He obviously forgot that the AFL hierarchy wanted to stamp out punching. :?

The umpire took Gresham's number at the time. How does that work?

Jimmy Webster.
Steele did what needed to be done. Fly the flag.
I hate it when coaches publicly say their player was undisciplined. You give away a free but you make a stand, far more important.

Rd 3- No fines or weeks for Saints-
Just for the opposition.
Completing the list of fines, Fremantle forward Jesse Hogan was penalised $2000 for his rather innocuous bump on St Kilda defender Nathan Brown.

The Saint suffered a delayed reaction after he was collected by Hogan, with the incident graded by Christian as careless conduct with low impact to the head.

Nothing from our game but how does Dangerfield swing back a fist 50m off the ball, collect someone in the head and only get a fine?
