Parker debut
Worth its own mention.
Not for the goals (although they were welcome) but for his effort. Second, third efforts.
A standing ovation from those around me when he kept going with those tackles around the goals in the second.
Parent in front of me went down at half time to buy Matty Parker badges for their sons - sold out.
Great story, cracking debut.
May there be many more.
Video of the great Nicky Winmar presenting his guernsey pre-game is a ripper.

Re: Parker debut
Little bit off topic but started looking through some old footage of the great Nicky Winmar and came across THE great mark by Rooey; courage personified and I still hold my breath every time I watch it hoping he'll come out of it alive - arguably the greatest mark ever

Re: Parker debut
He looked exhausted in the third and faded a little, but every time the ball came near him he took off again...always made contact with the opposition to let them know he was around. Geez we've needed someone like him the last few seasons, hope he keeps it up!

Re: Parker debut
Fantastic debut, ran out of gas towards the end but saw enough to think he's going to be around for a long time.....well done Matty! Your wife and son will be proud of you!

Re: Parker debut
Love his passion . Needs to work on the tank, was out in the second half.
Speaking of Mav, saw him there watching on in his sunday beach wear.

Re: Parker debut
Spot on.
Not just today's game but most this weekend has seen some big second-half fade outs by individuals. A big upside with Parker was the way he still imposed himself on the contest late in the game. He'll sleep well tonight - with a smile on his face.

Agree...and the club seems to have pre-determined our cult heros for us, because there wasn't a bogan chant for everyone, just Skunk and Parker?Saintmatt wrote: ↑Sun 24 Mar 2019 8:02pmWhat a load of inane crap. Re: Parker debut
One of the best debut at the Saints for a long time. Genuine speed and enthusiasm. These kids are out there that didn't get drafted at 18.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Can play.
Best feel good story we have had in some time.
Nicky giving him the jumper was icing.

Teared up seeing Nicky give Matty his jumper that’s the kinda thing that makes all the heartbreak we put up with worthwhile...
