WHO was our best recruiter in the past 40 years?
I want to say John Beveridge for obvious reasons:
Robert Harvey, Stewart Loewe, Nathan Burke, Lenny Hayes and Nick Riewoldt, James Gwilt, Sam Fisher, Stephen Milne, Barry Hall to name a few.
Was there a better recruiter ever at the club? Anyone have any thoughts?

I think the team built up in the sixties has to stand up very well.
I don't know all the ins and outs of who picked who but Ian Drake was extremely important in the emergence of St Kilda as a powerful team in the mid-1960s and early 1970s. We probably should have won 3 or more flags in that era.
Ian Drake was behind the recruitment of a number of great Tasmanian players to St Kilda, including Howell, Stewart, Baldock, Bingley and Bonney.

Who was the guy that managed to secure Aldo Dipetta, Brodie Atkinson and Michael Frost?

Did Beveridge start in '83? That means he probably helped us recruit half of the Carlton list? From Korka to Kenny, Marcou to McConville, Wow Jones to Ricky Nixon! And that isn't half of them! In 2012 he won an award for his Recruit Adviser work. They said it was for a Bevy of reasons.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!
