If the Geary injury is true
B: Webster, Rowe, Joyce
HB: Marsh, Battle, Savage
C: Sinclair, Steele, Billings
HF: Gresham, Bruce, Kent
F: Long, Membrey, Parker
Foll: Marshall, Steven, Ross
Int: Clark, Dunstan, Newnes, Hind
Horrid
why would you play Rowe??
Because he has more experience than Joyce, Austin, White and others plus Rowe is tall...and strong
Rowe will be a strong option to make sure that we defend strongly against 2 metre Peter
We want to have a strong effort in our first game of 2019 and it gives us a strong chance of starting the year strongly
Basically, it is strongly advised that we strive for a win in Round 1 and I've got a strong feeling that this is the ONLY reason Rowe has been recruited

We really are in some deep crap this year. When you see our best 22 it really hits home.
Back six with no carlisle, Roberton or brown is awful. There was a reason Joyce didn't play last year and that will become clear very soon. He will try his guts out but talent is not quite AFL standard And having to play marsh and/or Rowe says it all. One guy who Carlton, IE wooden spooners, delisted as not right for their team or a guy who hasn't played AFL since I think 2016.
If Steven plays our midfield us below average, without him we are sunk. No real pace or X factor in their and where is the leadership coming from. Our high possession no impact mids really annoy me.
Finally the forwards, this area is best on paper assuming Paddy doesn't play. He is an albatross around our neck. In good shape again after pre season like other years but his health will let him down again, more time on sideline get sugar levels right while others do longer shifts without a break plus he isn't that good, he really isn't. I look forward to your complaints Paddy lovers. Parker will bring some excitement and give us something to cheer for even when behind, Bruce looks fit again and if Skunk loses the yips then it's a decent forward line. If only they could get the ball

I doubt that Rowe would be match fit for AFL.
I think I read that he would need at least a few weeks to get up to match fitness.
Hannebery & Steven updates from Rich this morning -
"The timeline for a return from injury for star St Kilda recruit Dan Hannebery has been pushed back, with the former Swan now unlikely to play at any level until after round two. Hannebery has been struggling with soreness in both his hamstring and his calf."
"In better news, Jack Steven is training strongly and remains desperate to play against the Gold Coast on Sunday, after taking some time away from the game to deal witih mental health issues."

I agree with most of this and I was a fierce critic of our coaches giving Joyce games last year, but he has genuinely shown huge improvement over the pre season and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do this year. He's a good size, a great athlete, has sound kicking and seems like a pretty composed dude. He also still has plenty of improvement left in him.
There's every chance he gets found out by smart forwards and he's another failed Irish experiment, but I won't write him off yet as he he shown a lot more than many Australian born players on our list.

Round 4 or 5. Did they indicate which year?

Geary has torn a calf.
we've just reduced our potential turnovers by 30%
and increased our chances of a win.
Nice work
You must be gutted that our Captain seems fit to play.
Anyway the admin has found that saying “ nice work “ about a St Kilda player injury is not demeaning.
I beg to differ. True supporters don’t cheer injuries about their players.

Hanners hasn't debuted in the AFL according to Sam McClure.

I will think about reporting you for abusing me.
Will sleep on it and decide tomorrow whether to report your post.

Webster, Joyce, Geary
Wilkie, Battle, Savage
Clark, Ross, Parker
Billings, Bruce, Kent
Gresham, Membrey, Marshall
Pierce, Steven , Steele
Sinclair, Dunstan, Newnes, Lonie
Pretty close to the mark I reckon. Probably Long & Acres ahead of Lonie & Dunstan for mine.
Funny how there's so much doom and gloom because Carlisle, McCartin, Brown, Roberton, Hannebery, Longer, Clavarino, King & Bytel are all unavailable. None of them played just two matches ago when we got within a kick of a top four side.

Because it was a praccy match that lacked pressure.
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Round 1
B 29 – Jimmy Webster 39 – Darragh Joyce 36 – Daniel McKenzie
HB 5 – Shane Savage 26 – Josh Battle 14 – Jarryn Geary
C 15 – Jack Billings 6 – Sebastian Ross 30 – Ed Phillips
HF 21 – Ben Long 28 – Tim Membrey 25 – Dean Kent
F 4 – Jade Gresham 27 – Josh Bruce 8 – Blake Acres
R 3 – Jack Steven 9 – Jack Steele 42 – Lewis Pierce
I 1 – Nick Coffield 11 – Hunter Clark 19 – Rowan Marshall 34 – Matthew Parker
This would my team, though I suspect Lonie will find a way in to the team that runs out on Sunday...

He might be talking about Hawthorn, Rnd 22, 2018.
Well done CQ and very good point Beno.
I can't help but be impressed with what the team has been able to do on the field with those 2 JLT matches. You can't ignore winning form. I reckon the morale and goodwill that has built up over the preseason with the new coaches and Billy Slater will give us enough momentum for round 1.
I reckon we'll easily account for the Gold Coast and we'll upset a few others in the early rounds...after that I think the enthusiasm and energy might fall away a touch and the injuries will start to have a toll on the results
