Re: Mav names in Tigers team
I'll be watching with interest as to how he goes. His last 2 x seasons were terrible. Not overly interested in the excuses being given as to why. I'll be gobsmacked if he can be effective at the Tiges. There will be all sorts of questions that need to be asked if he can. because he certainly didn't look like an AFL footballer the last 2 x years.

Do you think he was playing well for us and would you have extended his contract?
No, wouldn't have given him a new deal, not with Long, Lonie coming on and also acquiring Kent ( better leg speed)!!!!!

We will be great again once Billy is back playing!!!!!

Re: Mav names in Tigers team
a long time Saints member (46 years!) on social media,
who was an official sponsor of Mav as of 2018 (not sure when she started)
has just posted that Mav was hampered by being played as a defensive forward all year "which ppl aren't aware of"
but I am positive everyone knew this.
Not sure why she thinks his role was hurting his output.
Then she says that he was left hanging until after the draft before the club decided to let him know his future.
Well, that's how it works, it's a business.

Re: Mav names in Tigers team
Disappointing (the last part) if that’s true. Don’t like the notion that any indecisiveness jeopardised Mav’s chances at getting another crack elsewhereWellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 21 Mar 2019 3:35pm a long time Saints member (46 years!) on social media,

I am pleased Mav, Minch and Hickey are gone. They are decent players but we need top liners. Richmond has top liners.
Mav hasn’t suddenly improved at Richmond. Both the Saints and Tigers rate Mav even if it is as a role player. It is only some supporters who do not rate Mav.

Re: Mav names in Tigers team
Definitely the right decision to delist him IMO. Was good for the first couple of years but has been ordinary for the last 2 but good on him for giving it a shot at Richmond he has obviously impressed there so who know if he keeps doing the job they want him to do he might be a regular.

your sentiment regarding those players is fine - but you do need to replace them with top liners as you sayShaggy wrote: ↑Thu 21 Mar 2019 5:13pm

Think people should consider which team an ex player transfers to - are they above us or below?
I think that says a lot about the quality of the transferred player

And so it goes. How many of our players go on to have storied careers after we let them go?Moods wrote: ↑Thu 21 Mar 2019 12:54pm I'll be watching with interest as to how he goes. Since 2013 we have developed our talent on the list very, very poorly. Some may say not at all.
I am glad to see some new faces in the box in 2019. Be good to see a few more too hopefully.
I don't bag our players going elsewhere for opportunities - it's their livelihood after all.

Wish Mav the best, but can't see him as permanent 22 once Caddy, Castagna, etc return. Hope he proves me wrong.

7-8 possessions and a missed shot partway through the 3rd quarter...
Got late touches after Richmond pulled away

Re: Mav names in Tigers team
15 disposals. 8 kicks, 7 handballs (or maybe vice versa)
1 goal 1 behind.
I'll be watching his next game with interest as well.

Seems very fit. Came into his own in the 4th quarter. Missed a soda of a goal and fumbled 3 or 4 marks, but kicked one and assisted in two others.Overall, a pass mark.

In all likelihood the players replacing Mav, Minch and Hickey will not be as good in the short term.sunsaint wrote: ↑Thu 21 Mar 2019 6:38pmyour sentiment regarding those players is fine - but you do need to replace them with top liners as you sayShaggy wrote: ↑Thu 21 Mar 2019 5:13pm

Regardless I am glad we are giving Pierce a go at first ruck and Parker a chance at HFF this week.
