Champion data club ratings
Not sure this means that much but Champion data has the Saints ranked 14th.
Interestingly, we’re ranked just higher than the Bulldogs.
ST KILDA
Average age: 23.90 (=12th)
Average games played: 56.7 (=14th)
Champion Data overall list rating: 14th
QThe numbers aren’t pretty when it comes to the Saints: Defence (16th), forward (13th) and midfield (11th). But it explains why Champion Data has deduced that Alan Richardson’s team has the fifth-worst list in the AFL. It’s possible the club’s forward line has been undersold, with a plethora of players contracting the yips in front of goal this season. What’s more, the addition of No. 4 draft pick Max King is certainly a bonus.

Re: Champion data club ratings
Rise or fall doesn't worry me as much as seeing a bunch of young guys getting the absolute best out of themselves.
If even half of the players like Billings, Coffield, Clark, Steele, Long, Gresham, Marshall, Austin, White, Acres, Lonie, Battle, McCartin, McKenzie, Bytel & King can play with confidence and fulfill their talent we will rise up the ladder.

Re: Champion data club ratings
so you have carlton, brisbane, adelaide, essendon, richmond, and west coast rising.
hawks, swans, port, and suns falling. the rest holding including us.
that's a pretty conservative prediction based on the last few seasons.
essendon and adelaide in the eight at the expense of hawthorn and swans? richmond and west coast to play off in the big dance.

Re: Champion data club ratings
They rated West Coast the 4th WORST midfield in the comp (and that would be with Gaff).
But they toweled up Collingwood in the GF in the midfield WITHOUT Gaff.
Explain that!!!!!

Re: Champion data club ratings
Champion Data rankings mean nothing in this regard. There are so many vaiables with players, teams, coaches, injuries, fixtures and home ground advantages I cant believe there is any one formula to measure that.

Re: Champion data club ratings
They did predict that the Pies had a very good midfield despite having a poor year. The were howls of derision at their midfield ranking at the time.
WCE is certainly an interesting one, but the rankings are over a two year period and their midfield group finished the year strongly. Last year their big forwards fell in a hole, this finals they were very good.
Overall the rankings are influenced by having a good midfield group. One can argue about this, but mote often than not good teams have good midfields.
Rankings too are on what was delivered. So poor form cuts deep. So you cannot really argue with our rankings.
All clubs can surprise though as the rankings are "history".
