St Kilda have told Mav Weller there isn't a spot for him on the list in 2019

One should never celebrate this type of bad fortune for another.
Def the right decision for us, still irritates me that Mav was more or less less a lock for the last year and half before coaches caught on

Re: Weller
Just makes you wonder who the hell was pushing hard for his selection each week. Everyone outside of that coaches box (and some within, no doubt) could see he was really struggling to give us what we needed on match days, and his inclusion denied opportunities for guys like Paton and Phillips. Astonishing that he played more than a few games based on his 2018 form. Anyway, I still admire the effort he put in on the field and for a short period he was good for us. Unfortunately, he no longer has the talent or the form to justify his place as an AFL player. It's a brutal game. Well done to him. Played 121 games, and that's a pretty fair effort at AFL level.

Proof that Richo is only still coach due to contractural issues that hopefully will be resolved very sooncwrcyn wrote: ↑Wed 17 Oct 2018 2:46pm Just makes you wonder who the hell was pushing hard for his selection each week. Re: Weller
So we couldn't even rustle up a pick into the 90s for a regular selected 22
It's no wonder newly recruited "players" walk straight into our side
Good luck Mav hope you find some way of playing footy with your brother

dunno about 'great work' - not sorry he's gone but failed trade, presumably.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Wed 17 Oct 2018 3:36pm Great work Saints. I don't care that it is a season late it is now done. Another list clogger is gone so well done guys well done

Nobody came biting for Mav. Was he at Gear’s wedding yesterday? Gonna wake in Portugal with a bit of a hangover.

Re: Weller
Obviously no trade value....not even to GC.
And he played how many games in 2018 !
Agree with the above post - Richo obviously had his jumper pulled on this, most likely no say in it at all.
Astonishing that he played so often this year.

Offer him up or bundle him up with picks / players would be my answer to your question, not sure why you're asking me though !?

Re: Weller
Thanks for your service Mav. He had some good games across the 5 years.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Re: Weller
Tough time for Mav, he loved playing footy at the highest level, he just wasn't good enough to help lift a struggling team.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Weller
Dateline: 17 Oct 2038
Afl.com.au
Goose Weller, son of ex- St Kilda and Gold Coast player Mav Weller, is widely tipped to go #1 in the upcoming 2038 Draft. Weller says he will be happy to play at his fathers first club, Gold Coast Suns who currently hold the number1 draft pick after finishing bottom after losing another former skipper and another batch of early draft picks went back to Victoria during the recent trade period. The Auckland Saints request for an automatic Father Son selection was denied as his father only played 89 games for the former St Kilda club - 11 games short of the special Father Son arrangement allowed to the relocated club. The Saints currently hold pick 10 in the draft after missing out on finals by percentage for the 3rd straight year. Their next pick is pick 46 after having traded away 5 years worth of 2nd round draft picks 2 years ago for 29 year old midfielder Jade Bolton from the Sydney Swans who has only played 6 games due to ongoing injuries for the Saints since signing a $20 million dollar 5 year. Saints General Manager, Luther Simon said the Auckland Saints brand new stadium, Rugby Union based leadership program and unlimited supply of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir would soon make the Saints a destination club for future AFL footballers and expects the big money on offer would soon land them a big fish.

Re: Weller
We could not persuade Gold Coast to give us anything for Mav but by delisting him the club may have done good by him.
Gold Coast now may well grab Mav as a delisted free agent.

Re: Weller
Seems like there is a bit of a disconnect between those making the decision to select him week in week out and those making the list management decisions.
