That above mentioned Mega trade was doomed as soon as Longer's name was added to it.

Imagine a club trading for Longer and Weller, that is a trade the AFL would veto.

ha ha ha. you may be right. If I were so far back, though, and so in need of mature bodies... you could say STK did a similar thing back in the Blight/Thomas era . (Of course, we didn't throw draft picks away). But there was the big 7 signees, 3 of whom turned out guns, and then adding Stephen Powell, Heath Black, Luke Penny (OK, he was youngish), couple other dudes whose names I've long forgotten... all intended to put big bodies around Roo, Kozi, Ball, NDS, etc., even L Hayes was quite young back then. Geez I miss that 2000-2005 era.

Three of those players only just make my best 22 and those guys probably wouldn't get a game for a top 8 side. You don't get gold for garbage, no matter how much garbage you offer

Capuano, voss and delany?

powel was good as was free through the pre season draft and offered a lot, Voss was good as well but dropped off quickly after some really good years.

and while the other 4, including Capuano, didn't work out, the strategy of bringing experience in was a good one.

God I'd love that trade to happen... but even the Gold Coast aren't desperate enough to take that list of duds....pity

The funniest thing is if they did take those players, they would finish bottom in 2019 instead of second bottom.

what if we threw in Jack Steven? If I were them, I'd consider the deal. (Id the Saints did the same now I'd be livid, but I guess its where you think your list is at). Flesh the list out and give them the direct replacements for FF and FB. They need to re-set, and their risk of recruiting a bunch of SA boys means they could leak them 2 yrs from now and still be having to start over.
