Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
Lonie set to sign new 2 year deal.
May completely open to any Melbourne club now.
Wouldn't be surprised if Amon ends up in the locker room at RSEA Park.
Things could get interesting tomorrow.

Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.

Two years...
Source AFL website
JACK Lonie is set to remain with St Kilda after the club increased its offer to the small forward by an extra season.
AFL.com.au understands a two-year contract is now on the table, with Lonie expected to sign the improved deal when he returns from a trip to Europe to attend Saints skipper Jarryn Geary's wedding in Portugal.
I used to be supersaints but after 16 years my profile dissapeared... ??? if I make any reference to past posts .. it will be under supersiants.. glad to be back on line

What it should read is, Lonie set to stay @ St Kilda because no one else wants him and he’s Richo’s favourite.supersaints2 wrote: ↑Wed 17 Oct 2018 5:08amTwo years...

Pulled out the best 3-4 games of his career at the right time to save it. Well done I guess....i hope he continues to improve from here. It will take more than dead rubber efforts to convince me he is part of our best 22 , but he certainly finished the year well.
Nee!

Re: Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
Why do we do this. We now have a list clogger for an extra year. Only Brisbane would have offered him a longer contract. 4 above average games at season end and that was it. Stupid call. Should have let him go, one year at the absolute most. And if we get rankine he is not needed except for depth. Not happy Jan

Re: Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
Because he played 4 better games than most of his teammates did all year. I think the penny has dropped with Lonie and we'll see more a consistant seson out of him. Plenty of other 'listcoggers' that should go before Lonie.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Wed 17 Oct 2018 8:40am Why do we do this. We now have a list clogger for an extra year. Re: Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
Was reported on the radio that it's one year, with a trigger clause for a second year if benchmarks are met.
So if he plays well he gets another year.

Re: Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
I think the club had played this really well and he deserved another go.
He has some decent skills and tricks but just doesn’t look strong enough.
I hope he makes it but as they say, time will tell.

Re: Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
I hope you are right as that is more realistic. 2 years is not warranted after last year. It really isn't. 4 good games, some dead rubbers, isn't good enough for a multiple year contract. I think he got a dose of reality when he received little interest elsewhereHitTheBoundary wrote: ↑Wed 17 Oct 2018 6:03pm Was reported on the radio that it's one year, with a trigger clause for a second year if benchmarks are met.

For all those tackles he's gonna stick.

God damn it it's official. 2 years with no mention of it being 1 year and a trigger for another. Sandringham will be wrapped.
One year too many but lets hope I am proven wrong and he becomes Billy Slater's pet project

Re: Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
Lonie wanted more than a one year deal or he would look to go elsewhere as a delisted free agent.
Lonie was left unsigned and placed on the trade table along with Weller.
The club would sell either if someone would pay with draft picks.
No-one came forward.
Weller has a chance that Gold Coast will take him as a delisted free agent and clog their list.
Lonie would also have become a delisted free agent if he was not signed.
The failed one year deal would have seen him lost to St Kilda for nothing.
His agent was confident / knew he would be picked up.
The club relented and gave him a two year deal.
Both agents played the game well.
I have not seen anything about Longer being signed.
With Hickey gone he has bargaining leverage.
I don't know the extent of Logan Austin's contract.
I know everyone else is locked in but heaps of contracts expire end of 2019 season.

I have a cousin who works part-time, and when she works well, they offer extra shifts.
In all her previous jobs, full-time, it was just do the job, and go home.
The much reduced income+extra$$ on offer is a massive incentive, and she's really improved.

Re: Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
If he can maintain his end of year form he will kick 40 goals next year.
A big ask - but a change in game plan may assist him. i.e. not using him as a marking target and an increase in our forwardline pressure.
In 2018 he was 4th in our goalkicking, ahead of Billings and McCartin despite playing less games than them.

Re: Lonie 2 year deal and end of trade period
40 is getting into big forward territory. I don't think he is that good. Near 30 goals and good pressure acts every game would be a good pass mark for him.

Well that is just sad isn't it. Not so much his goals but there are only3 better than a player who got next to no interest from other clubs.
