Dean Kent - worth a late pick trade?
Rumors Dean Kent wants to come to STK.
What do people think? I've not seen him play; figure others would know a bit about him.

Will be a good pickup. Astute recruitment.
Clark and Kent on each wing next year.

Re: Dean Kent - worth a late pick trade?
We should be investigated for tanking if we play Kent on a wing at AFL level... six years into his career he's averaging 12 disposals.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Mon 01 Oct 2018 10:08amWill be a good pickup. Astute recruitment.

Re: Dean Kent - worth a late pick trade?
Would have played in Melbourne's finals campaign if he didn't get injured in their last game agsinst GWS. He was in a top 4 sides best 22. Must be pretty good. Played 22 games in 2016. Can play. Astute recruitment.

There is no proof that he was in their best 22.
Wishful thinking.

Re: Dean Kent - worth a late pick trade?
Best 22 means picked when all players are available, Kent playing more VFL than AFL over the past two years suggests he is defintely not best 22. Melbourne had about 8 first choice missing through injury when Kent came into the side.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Mon 01 Oct 2018 5:02pm Would have played in Melbourne's finals campaign if he didn't get injured in their last game agsinst GWS. If he was, we wouldn't be getting him for a pick in the 50's.
The fact you are mentioning 2016 is a concern in itself.
Let's face it, this is another hail mary...let's hope it comes off.

Would have played in Melbourne's finals campaign (top 4 side) if he didn't get injured. Must go ok.
2016 proves he can play good footy. Was only 21 or 22 then. Just had a bit of bad luck with injuries the last 2 years so its hard to cement a spot when not playing regularly.
Bruce and Roberton were injured all last year. Bet they still know how to play footy. Again, astute recruitment to get a ready made 24 year old that fits what the club needs for 3 years at not alot of cap space and a late pick loss. Pretty simple.

Re: Dean Kent - worth a late pick trade?
Interesting that none of our ITK's are around at the moment.
Where are Tony & Jaxsons with their little tidbits?
Nobody picked Kent as a potential target.
Haven't seen much of him but certainly looks like the old 'money ball' play.
Comes cheap, has a lethal left foot and pace - a couple of things we want.
Ignore that he is not a ball winner and has not had the endurance to play midfield.
Still think he's work the risk as he has to be an upgrade on some of our delistings like Wright, Meatball etc.

Pre-season draft, not National Draft. Effectively means we'd get him for nothing.

Re: Dean Kent - worth a late pick trade?
I’m a bit torn on this one. He has a lot of talent but he seems to be made of sticky tape. He is also borderline fat. The trade won’t cost us anything in terms of picks but 3 years is the real gamble.

Re: Dean Kent - worth a late pick trade?
Hearing a 4th rounded at this point. Maybe 3rd which we don't have so would have to be a future pick unless a 3rd trade is orchestrated.

Re: Dean Kent - worth a late pick trade?
I think a fourth round seems fair as there is a lot of risk associated with him, plus I never heard of him before he nominated us so he isn't a star.

Done apparantly. Pick 65. Good trade.

The AFL app has deemed his transfer not worth alerting me to. Unlike every other bit of meaningless news.
