Now it begins
Well done Eagles.
Bad luck Collingwood.
Now to 2019.
Basset in.
Lade and Ratten in. A couple more assistants on the way.
Hannerbrey in.
Kent in.
Shiel in (maybe).
More to come.
New IT stats recruitment guru in (guy from Hawthorn - forgot his name).
All bodes well for a better 2019. Looking forward to the FA, trade and draft periods before a solid first pre season at a new Moorabbin.
Bad luck Collingwood.

Definitely not 3rd last. More like 7th to 10th.
Bit early to make a prediction on 2019.
I bet no one imagined Collingwood v West Coast. The AFL has become the wild west.

Re: Now it begins
As long as we do something this trade period to shake things up I will be content. Picking up a young, fringe full-back for a late exchange of draft picks last year was farcical!
its time to make a name for yourself like you've never made before!

Re: Now it begins
reckless predictions season, conveniently based on no credible facts: at least two of Melbourne, Hawthorn and Geelong will not make the finals. Richmond's game style will become outmoded - a good marking team will be the new black. Sydney playing in finals will depend on Buddy being fit and he looks pretty banged up. Umpire bias in West Coast home games will drop a couple of notches and 50 meter penalties for encroachment will have more no harm no foul common sense applied. De Goey will kick les than 40 goals in the H&A season, Cox less, so to speak. Pierce will have a very good year.

Whether we improve or not will depend on how much influence Richo is allowed to retain. My hope is he is sidelined & Rats is given the reins to drive pre season training & implement sound match day stategies.
Prediction: bottom 2, Richo sacked bye week.

Re: Now it begins
The new facilities at Moorabbin will start to deliver.
Injured players will be back.
The new 6 cubed rule will benefit tall forward lines and power forwards.
Paddy will have a breakout year and kick 50 goals.
The new assistant coaches will work a treat to reinvigorate the coaching department.
If we can recruit 2 or more decent midfielders to improve depth we will play finals.

Re: Now it begins
Kent is the replacement for Koby Stevens. Hannebery is the replacement for Dunstan, who will either be traded or spend next year playing at Sandy. Agree we need midfielder, preferably with some leg speed and elite kicking skills. Look out for improvement from Long, Clark, Coffield, Phillips, Battle, and White. Throw in the return of Bruce and Roberton, and a fit David Armitage, and things don't look so bleak. It still means a middle of the ladder position at the end of 2019 at best, and I'd take that in a heartbeat over this year's shyte-fest. If the new coaches can have some real influence, that will be a hug step forward. 2018 was the most inept display of tactical coaching I have seen for many a long year.

Re: Now it begins
It's weird really how the tactical coaching completely disappeared this season. I seem to remember that last season much was made of our improved ability to switch from plan A to plan B during a game (instead of having to rethink when the game was reviewed) - but this season there didn't seem to be any strategical coaching midgame at all.
That said, I also seem to remember that early this year there was talk that the troops weren't able to follow/understand the gameplan. So maybe it was a similar problem to Ross Lyon in 2016 - where the 'masterplan' turned out to be unusable and, between that and injuries, the whole season just fell apart.

Re: Now it begins
An actual full and proper pre season at our new Moorabbin will help alot. This can't be underestimated.

Maybe, maybe not. The facilities at Seaford we’re supposed to be state-of-the-art also.tedtheodorelogan2018 wrote: ↑Sun 30 Sep 2018 2:33pm An actual full and proper pre season at our new Moorabbin will help alot. This can't be underestimated.

Re: Now it begins
Did anyone else watch Gresham interview after the B&F?
Talked about wanting to go through the middle more and I think (from memory) said it was his best position during juniors.
Maybe the club doesn’t see the need to bring in any other quick fringe player.
If we can’t land Shiel, maybe they’re content with rotating Gresh, Clark and others through there?

Re: Now it begins
Richo shouldn't last past the mid year bye if that is the case.
The only scenario in which he gets to keep his job in 2020 is if we finish with 15 wins, a top 6 finish and at least one finals win.

Correct
A pass for Alan isn’t getting more than 4 wins...
After 5 years he’s want to have an exceptional year for mine

For too long we’ve over promised, under delivered...let’s try something different
But yeah under Cho I can’t see us progressing which will likely lead to a mid season sacking and that’s never good
