Maybe the current Saints list isn't as bad as we might think.

I think you're clutching at straws again dude.
We have beaten the premiers in the H&W season on plenty of occasions.
4 scrappy wins this season tells a better story than 9 goals we kicked 18 months ago.

Lethers doesn't have much faith in the list

Richo has been lamenting the lack of leaders all year.
Stuv is asking questions about whether the club is rebuilding...Why would he do that if the coaches and admin believed we had the list to be a contender?

I think we were lucky to play Brisbane when we did, they improved a lot over the year and were a far more dangerous side than us overall.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 12:34am4 wins is terrible but wins are wins and I can’t understand why a 25 point win is lucky.dragit wrote:4 wins will get you the wooden spoon most years... 2 of our 4 wins were extremely lucky against fellow bottom 4 sides.

We went into the game basically at full strength against the reigning wooden spooners, they lost Rich early in the game but were still in front late in the 3rd quarter… 25 points is pretty flattering IMO, I thought we were lucky to get away with a win in the end.
Ironically after this very ordinary game, richo claimed that we had a lot of A graders and we have enough talent on the list to challenge

I said the same thing about 5 or 6 rounds into the season. I copped a bit of eye-rolling at that point.dragit wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 11:35amI think we were lucky to play Brisbane when we did, they improved a lot over the year and were a far more dangerous side than us overall.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 12:34am4 wins is terrible but wins are wins and I can’t understand why a 25 point win is lucky.dragit wrote:4 wins will get you the wooden spoon most years... 2 of our 4 wins were extremely lucky against fellow bottom 4 sides.

5 weeks after Richo thought his players would challenge for a flag he claims his players skills were sub par for AFL level!?!dragit wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 11:35amI think we were lucky to play Brisbane when we did, they improved a lot over the year and were a far more dangerous side than us overall.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 12:34am4 wins is terrible but wins are wins and I can’t understand why a 25 point win is lucky.dragit wrote:4 wins will get you the wooden spoon most years... 2 of our 4 wins were extremely lucky against fellow bottom 4 sides.

If the head coach doesn't know whether he's coming or going; whether he's Arthur or Martha or whether we are contenders or sub par pretenders, how the hell are the players going to have any faith in anything else that comes out of his mouth?!?

? this other person or poster. Not sure what people call them on here.
Merely highlighting we have beaten all 4 prelim finalists in the last 2 seasons. Our list isn't as bad as some supporters think. If Dylan and Josh get back its big. Plus Dan Hannerbrey.

To think, the club should never have discontinued Trout's services seeing as our list isn't actually that bad. What was Lethlean thinking? Clearly being too "aggressive".

Re: St Kilda Collingwood 2017 Rd 4
We would beat them in Melbourne anyway - it doesn't matter if they improved throughout the year. 1 win against us in 20 years, and us beating them here every time since 2000, in Melbourne tells us this. We won by almost 5 goals. The rest of your sentiments I agree with though.dragit wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 11:35amI think we were lucky to play Brisbane when we did, they improved a lot over the year and were a far more dangerous side than us overall.kosifantutti wrote: ↑Sat 22 Sep 2018 12:34am4 wins is terrible but wins are wins and I can’t understand why a 25 point win is lucky.dragit wrote:4 wins will get you the wooden spoon most years... 2 of our 4 wins were extremely lucky against fellow bottom 4 sides.

Five goals up 22 minutes into the last quarter is not a lucky win. If you want to talk about lucky results, how about the GWS game?

Okay kosi, it wasn't lucky… I thought it was a scrappy and pretty unconvincing performance against an interstate, wooden spooner on our home ground.
The next 21 rounds didn't do much to shake this feeling.
