Poor trainer and apparently is pretty loose.
That’s just wrong. He may have limitations but being a poor trainer is certainly not one of them. On the same topic that is one of the things you’ll see a huge improvement in. Our professionalism at training this year was poor. Will be vastly different next year.
That is really disappointing to think our players are unprofessional during training , well no wonder their on field performance was so sub standard
No they weren’t unprofessional during training, the training was unprofessional compared to the successful teams. Lack of strong discipline and leadership etc. That’s why Hannebery will be important. You can’t underestimate the void left by Roo, Joey and Shinner. They drove our training last year
Semantics!
Nothing but excuses all year.
Pre-season: after Melbourne loss we had had our break earlier than other teams or some BS.
Early in the season: oh, if only we could kick straight. We are doing everything right but not converting and getting reward on the scoreboard for our effort.
Mid season: The players are down on confidence and out of form.
Late in the season: it became injuries.
Now it’s the loss of experienced players and training standards.
FFS: how about the coaching group put up their hand and take responsibility.
Hawthorn managed to bounce back ok after jettisoning Mitchell, Hodge & Lewis.
Although I agree with your premise, Hawthorn to be fair, have staggered their List Management so when some senior guys leave, others are still there. And when they leave, others move into that category. Our List Management over the past decade (in particular from 2009 to 2013) killed us in that regard.
Hawthorn lost Hodge, Lewis, Mitchell - but still had Gibson, Burgoyne, Roughead.
The lost Gibson and Rioli, but still had Burgoyne, Roughead and Birchall and Puopolo stepped up into that 'senior group'.
Next year, they'll add Smith, Stratton, Frawley and even McEvoy into their senior group when they lose some.
I've said this for over 2 years now - but our biggest problem is the lack of a solid senior group. You're right - the club should have seen this coming if we did from here. Adding Brown helped slightly, but nowhere near enough.
