Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
Anyone watch the interview with Nathan Buckley tonight on Foxtel? Don’t know what program is called, there are 3 females doing the interview.
They were asking Buckley about all the difficulties he had when everyone was calling for him to be sacked and what changes he made & how things had changed so quickly for the better this year. A number of things were discussed on how he changed his approach and different methods and processes that where put into place.
One of the comments that was made was that Robert Harvey was left in charge of the pre-season training this year.
So Harves is not only in charge of the engine room at the Magpies (and their midfield is rather impressive) but no doubt the pies have had confidence in him to run the ship over pre-season.
Maybe our quiet, humble Harvey is developing in his coaching role more than some on here give him credit??????

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
Agree 100% ... I believe he was named Assisant coach of the year last season... so rated as the best among his peers
His coaching in the midfield and transition is extremely good...
I think he's the guy coming when the Maggie's are out of the finals.. at least I hope so!!!
I kinda think Harvey Ratten and Choko would be a good blend

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
Always had the highest standards of himself on and off the field, and it appears he has transferred that to the Pies.
Never could understand the criticism of him by some saints supporters who aren't fit to critique a man as accomplished as him. criticism based on nothing more than pessimism of their own and lack of understanding of greatness. they are the type of personalities we appear to have in charge of the club - preferring mediocrity over recognising and doing what is required to be successful. perhaps harvs is too good for this club.

Great post Loris. It pains me to see some of the garbage written here about Banger.loris wrote: ↑Wed 05 Sep 2018 10:17pm Anyone watch the interview with Nathan Buckley tonight on Foxtel? Don’t know what program is called, there are 3 females doing the interview.

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
Would absolutely love to get Harvs back to the club. A genuinely inspirational figure in our club's history and is proving himself to be an astute coach. I'm not sure he has the media skills or outgoing personality to become a head coach but he could be hugely influential on our midfield group

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
Most people say that he is too quiet to be a head coach, but he must be improving in that area as he is getting plenty of experience. He certainly does not fit the "back pocket" mold of coach. But would that stop him from getting a senior gig?

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
He’s “been home” already...... after his stint with Carlturd. I respect everything that Harves did while at the Saints..... but have real misgivings about him being senior coach. I still recall him leaving us for Collingwood when he never got the coaching gig after Shortarse got the sack.

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
Just on Buckley and the media,
as much as I despise the Filth,
I find him the best of all the coaches in an interview.
When he's on TV, I just sit there hanging on every word.
Remember when he said he didn't tag Tom Mitchell because although he gets a lot of ball,
"he doesn't hurt you?" The question mark was from Buckley.
He knew it would sound disrespectful, but he was being bloody honest.
I know he's called FIGJAM, but he seems so honest and doesn't talk crap.
Love how he interviews.

A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
If Harvs was in charge of pre-season they'd be fitter than they had ever been before.
He probably did it (pre-season) with them and still smashed them in the time trials.
Just like he did to MicK McGuane out at Waverly park in the semi final.

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
Every time Banger gets a slap on the back (once every year) we're suddenly mad for not throwing everything at him to be senior coach! And posters reckon the CLUB looks desperate.

Re: Throwaway comment on Buckley interview
Thanks for the correction... a good friend who is sadly a Collingwood supporter told me ... FWIW he claimed Harves was instrumental in turning Bucks around with the way He spoke to players... he apparently no longer acts like a figjamausfatcat wrote: ↑Thu 06 Sep 2018 11:55pm2013supersaints2 wrote: ↑Thu 06 Sep 2018 8:24am Agree 100% ...
