Is this the moment.....
the supporter base truly turns on the club?
Freeman’s delisting has elicited a groundswell of vitriol from Saints fans on Facebook and made us look horrid to the wider football public.
It was one of our only feel-good stories for the year, and now that’s been sh@t on too.
This decision seems like the icing on the turdcake they served up to us this year.
I predict 30,000 members next year, including cats and goldfish, at best. That would be a horror show.

Re: Is this the moment.....
Fact is Freeman has lost his renowned pace and disposal didn't look up to elite level in the admittedly two games he played in.
I agree it's not a good look, but most saints supporters/members have been screaming for tough decisions, but as soon as ones made, everyone screams again.

Who wants ruthless?
Surely we want smart
I tell you what's not smart
Retire roo and joey and leave us no leadership
Recruit 35 half back flankers
Continue to play a forward line with stuff all goal kickers
Fail to develop any ruckman
Unable to attract one decent FA
Give supporters a terrible match day experience with music and cringe worthy marching bands
Completely botch selection of our youngsters
Give stuff all hope to supporters
Let single points of failure to replace each other time after time we have gone from pelican to bains to now lethlean
Keep a coach with the worst winning record after signing him to a disasterous extension
Sadly I could keep going

Sad for Freezer, but that is the way modern footy is, a business and you have to make tough decisions. Unfortunately, Freezer didn't thaw properly. People that chuck in their memberships just for that decision are not worth having as members anyway. They'll be back once we start winning a few, all clubs have a fair percentage of fly in fly out members.

It is a business decision based on fact not fairy tales.

If people want ruthless & smart why is Richo there it is a PR disaster there is nothing on our website.Cutting Freeman is not ruthless it’s bloody sad!The club in the last couple of years has lurched from one disaster to the next with the only bright light being the return to Moorabbin ,some supporters are already showing a disunity from the club a lot will vote with their feet only than will the club understand what a shambolic state we are in and as for bringing guns in we will have to pay over the overs to get anyone just saddens me !

If the club don't think he's good enough - then cut him. That's what ruthless means. It's making decisions devoid of emotion. No compassion, no pity.skeptic wrote: ↑Wed 29 Aug 2018 11:12amI think it was implied that ruthlessness would target the people that deserved itrodgerfox wrote: ↑Wed 29 Aug 2018 8:08amI agree with the premise of your post.maverick wrote: ↑Wed 29 Aug 2018 7:47am Who wants ruthless?

People wanted ruthless - and they got it.
Personally, I don't think ruthless is great for footy clubs. I think smart decisions are what is required.

Re: Is this the moment.....
The Freeza decision is not ruthless, for the ones at the club who Kim JongRicho must have dirt on, it is merely a scapegoat decision. Ruthless will be moving on those who have numerous games in numerous seasons to prove time after time they are not good enough. Regardless of where a player was drafted, if they are surplus or lacking they should be traded or delisted, that is ruthless.
I cannot wait until someone says the emperor is wearing no clothes.
Maverick used the example of 35 HBF and the emperor then plays Armo & Ross across the half back line. Richo is not a coach, developer or communicator to these young foot soldiers.

Without sounding patronising, the definition of ruthless is :
ruth·less (ro͞oth′lĭs)
adj.
Having no compassion or pity; merciless: ruthless cruelty; ruthless opportunism.
adj
feeling or showing no mercy; hardhearted
Delisting Freeman is absolutely a ruthless decision. I think people want brave decisions, rather than ruthless.

Re: Is this the moment.....
Thanks for the definition, yes in isolation it is ruthless. If it is not followed by similar, harder decisions, it then makes Freeza a scapegoat.
Yes, I do believe Richo has a fair say in List Management. A senior coach would be a complete fool not to have input.

Re: Is this the moment.....
How can we be seen to be ruthless, emotionless, best-for-the-club decision makers, when we appear to be keeping the least successful 100+ game coach in the history of the AFL?
As I saw someone else say - shooting Bambi is not a good start.
I am extremely interested in understanding what Richo could possibly have done to warrant standing up infront of the playing group and apologising...... how can that possibly be conducive to then having him demand respect and effort from the playing group? I know we'll never find out until someone writes a book....
They'd surely laugh him off and hold his mistake against him though when he demands something of them; particularly when the chips are down.
What a toxic environment.
You only needed to see the response of the playing group to Freezer to understand how they felt towards the guy. I'd say boning him now probably garners resentment amongst his mates in the playing group towards the club.
