Re: Team vs. Hawks
Sorry for Freeman but this team selection of the talls is the only thing of interest to me in this match -
Hopefully Carlisle, Austin and Goddard can hold down the 3 tall running defender combination for the next 6-7 years
Pierce and Marshall get another chance to see how they combine as a ruck/ tall forward combo
I haven’t looked at the Hawthorne team but I wouldn’t think that having a ruckman and a tall forward in the team is overkill in terms of tall players

Re: Team vs. Hawks
Nathan Freeman was one of the few Saints players who looked like he knew what he was doing once he got the ball - so naturally he would be dropped.

Re: Team vs. Hawks
Given our gameplan, I expect the team to look more like this when we line up on the weekend:
B: Geary, Austin, Goddard, McKenzie
HB: Sinclair, Savage, Carlisle, Webster, Armitage
C: Newnes, Steele, Billings
HF:
F: Long, Marshall, Membrey
FOLL: Pierce, Steven, Gresham
Interchange:
Acres, Lonie, Rice
At Officeworks doing some photocopies for Richo:
Paton

Re: Team vs. Hawks
Check out the height of the Hawks players, they are actually very tall around the ground.

Someone could be getting ready to show how ruthless they are by cutting him from the list.
Don't want him creating any doubt by having two good games to finish the season.

Re: Team vs. Hawks
Nothing wrong with "being tall".
IF you out mark your opposition you control the ball.
The problem is that, in OUR Forward Line we have Marshall (averaging a goal every second game) as the height then the mid-field (188cm) sized Membrey at CHF.
So in my view, we are going short.
Hence we feel the absence of McCartin, Bruce and Battle - then the option of pushing Marshall and Hickey to the goal square because they can both mark.
I would love to see us "go tall" because that is where our strength is - and, apart from Longer and Goddard for confirmation tomorrow, all our "talls" are mobile - plus they take matching so like for like.

Yeah but it's difficult to mark in the wet slippery conditions of our home ground the MCG...oh hang on
