Re: Team v Bumbers
Thanks for the post Jacks.
Looks like we're having a very good look at the list before big decisions are made.
All the best to Ben Paton on his debut.
In the perfect world Ben and Freeza would have had longer to establish themselves but our world ain't perfect.
It'll be good to see Ben Long running around again.

Clark is ill according to the coach and Dunstan copped a corkie today according to tony74.
Coffield I am not sure about but he had a very poor game.
Along with a few others.

Ben will be right for next year.
Freezer needs to get through the last three games and pick up the pace.

Re: Team v Bumbers
Surely Ben Long is not fit enough for an AFL game. Setting him up for failure. Luke Dunstan will be very nervous about how Ben Paton goes. I have a hunch Paton will be one of those late draft bonuses and we'll be asking why the hell he wasn't in sooner

Everyone a bit sore.
The whole team needs to be "managed".
Damn that why we have a coach.

This is one of the weakest St Kilda teams I have seen in 50 years of following the Saints. In saying that they will probably come out and sneak a win.

Re: Team v Bumbers
Yep it's a pretty weak team, hopefully the Bumbers will be a bit deflated after their finals chances evaporated last week.
Whilst I'm not expecting to win, it would be good to see great games from Acres, Gresh, Long, Marshall, Billings and Rice. And if Carslile and Membery go well and our mids hold their own......perhaps..

Very happy with the ins. Gives me something to watch during the game regardless of whatever the scoreboard says.

Re: Team v Bumbers
Strange to bring Long in so quickly but at least with this team we're getting a look at a few guys who haven't had much of a chance so far. Looking forward to seeing how Pierce handles being the number one ruckman. Not looking forward to another week of Acres playing as a forward target.

Re: Team v Bumbers
Finally Paton gets a run. No surprises for me anymore as I have given up expecting newnes and Lonie to be dropped.
I hope we at least.make a game of the first quarter. Can't see us winning this after the last few games but I am happy with the amount of debuts this year. Ray connelan is about the only other player to debut but he isn't really ready yet. Good for next year and if we get 3 more flogging Ricoh.may walk

Connellan and Clavarino still to debut . Goddard and Minchington haven't played in the ones this year either.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Fri 10 Aug 2018 10:23am Finally Paton gets a run. No surprises for me anymore as I have given up expecting newnes and Lonie to be dropped.

I forgot about Clavarino to be fair. Still not sold on Goddard to be honest and Minchington just needs some luck but may not get a game this year.
Lonie getting better? possibly but is he in our best 22? I feel for him, too good for VFL not quite AFL. I hope in the off season he bulks up a little and works on his defensive game

I don't understand why people on this site want Lonie dropped.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Fri 10 Aug 2018 10:23am Finally Paton gets a run. No surprises for me anymore as I have given up expecting newnes and Lonie to be dropped.

I think he has shown enough in the last 4 weeks to hold his spot and get a contract for next year.
Give me a choice between Mav and Lonie and I'd be going for the little man.
Despite a poor start to the season I still think Lonie will make it as an AFL player.

IMHO I don't think that Mav and Lonie are competing for the same spot.Joffa Burns wrote: ↑Fri 10 Aug 2018 2:44pmI don't understand why people on this site want Lonie dropped.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Fri 10 Aug 2018 10:23am Finally Paton gets a run. I think Lonie is competing with Long for that particular spot, and I don't think, given Long's form before injury, that Lonie is even in the conversation with Long.
