Billy has had/will have ankle surgery. Will be out for rest of year.

I think it a shame and confusing with shoulder and ankle issues that has impeded Billy Longer since pre-season that the coaches and medial staff would grind him into the ground while on the other hand wrapping McCartin, K Stevens and Roberton in cotton wool

The whole thing is very weird.

I have no idea why the club insists on persevering with injured players until they break down but it seems to happen again and again.

Longer was a lock at the start of the season and at least in the eyes of some fans and the coach, lost ground back to Hickey... and I don’t get what anybody thought there was to gain by playing him in the firsts when he wasn’t fit enough or letting him throw his weight around at Sandy.

It hasn’t exactly done him the world of good.

Why oh why would you just not have taken a punt on Pierce at one point or another
