St Kilda v Sydney 1991
I've just uploaded this to YouTube. It's from my private video collection. Not the best quality but does capture the atmosphere of a great Saints win at Moorabbin. Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing, Newman. Was behind goals with the cheer squad that day. Interesting to note the Southern Saints song was still being played at matches that year. So much optimism going into the next week in finally breaking that 18 year finals drought. Was devastating, however, that it all came to a very sudden and grinding halt.

Yes I did notice the theme song when I was re-watching. Agree. One week later just went down to Geelong. Ablett managed to rough up Burkie and David Grant and I reckon that was enough to cause a loss.

Yeah I never forgave Ablett for those two indiscretions. Then after he broke Kristian Bardsley's jaw in 1996, it only cemented him being amongst my most disliked players.

That last bay behind the cheersquad was GA if you got there early enough - rest of the grandstand was reserved seating.
I was around in the Animal Pit that day.
Such a shame it has all been demolished.
But the most striking thing about the video is it captures the atmosphere.
God that atmosphere was good.
AFL PLEASE NOTE
NO blaring music after goals.
NO Kisscam/dance-offs/stupid competitions/quizzes/interviews/background music.
In those days all you needed pre-game was the mounting excitement about the big game.
Then during the breaks you could analyse how it was going and what might happen next.
Now you can't hear yourself think in the breaks much less conduct a conversation.

Great footage. I was at this game directly below.
The view shows how it’s now a completely different game.
Atmosphere.
