Re: The Trades Book
Shiel and Kelly always rate a mention in here....both 250-1....
Need to add a market for Saints players on the way out too. The ever-present “trade Armo/Gilbert back to Qld” should rate highly, with Mav, Paddy and the Hickey/ Longer duo in there as well. Bit of value around “trade Dunstan back to SA”...

There are media reports claiming Dylan Shiel has no interest in returning to Victoria this year and is contracted until the end of 2019.
Same with Kelly, contracted until 2019 so not gettable this year one would think.
I'd have both those players at 1000-1 for this years market.

Re: The Trades Book
I do enjoy trade season and here is my ideal result
Buddy-money for Gaff - money and length of deal that WC can't match
Aaron Hall and Jack Martin in trade with Mav, Armo and future 2nd rd pick
Use our first round pick
Longer traded somewhere for 2nd rd pick - He'll probably go on to be a gun maybe

Re: The Trades Book
Jarrad's age aside, if the club is looking to copy the Eagles or Lions model of bringing on a Hodge or Mitchell type player in for a year and then transition into an assistant role as well as bringing some useful IP, then I'd say his odds of being in RW&B next year are good. Media reports are that Jarrad has stated he's keen to play on next year but John Longmire is reported as saying retirement was the agreed plan.
I'm guessing that all means Jarrad is putting himself on the market come October and due diligence by potential suitors will focus on medical reports and assessing if he's healthy enough for one more season.

With that said, don't we already have IP from McGlynn and Playfair who coached Sydney's backline for some years? Doesn't seem to help us when we play them

Re: The Trades Book
We're going to need to get clever and try and grab someone who has been in the system for a few years but hasn't yet reached full potential. Just 2 years ago Kelly hadn't emerged and was in and out of the GWS team. Now he's one of the best players in the competition.parkeysainter wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 11:30am Also throw in:

I think Jack Martin would be a shrewd get.

Re: The Trades Book
You give Buddy-Money when you are desperate, and St KFC are desperate in every sense of the word. Gaff will be 27 next year, he's in the very top bracket of mids and could very well win a Brownlow. We also have to spend our built-up salary cap. He's off the table in your books but not in mine. Beauty of a forum though is we all have our own opinions!!!!!stonecold wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 5:54pmYou only give Buddy-Money for Buddy, not Gaff, way overs, plus I think he will re-sign with West Coast!!!!!outside66 wrote: ↑Wed 25 Jul 2018 1:38pm I do enjoy trade season and here is my ideal result

Re: The Trades Book
I've got Andrew Gaff at $15 to try and entice a bit money his way but to be honest I agree he will stay with West Coast. He probably should be $35 to $50.
It's an opinion based purely on me putting myself in his shoes and what he might be thinking:
I'm 27,
my club is offering me insane money,
there's a really good feel around the club at the moment that we can pinch a flag,
I'm treated like a god in WA.
Might as well take on one more contract with WC and come back to Vic in few years time.

Yeah fair enough, I still question why would we want to pay 'overs' for a 27 year old though?????
He will re-sign with West Coast in the next few weeks anyway, so we won't be paying 'overs' or anything else for him!!!!!
As for our built-up salary room, it will be spent on others!!!!!
