Re: The Positives
Yeah Ricey and Marshall really grabbed their opportunities but I don't understand the set on Newnes. Well inside the best 22 and hasn't hit his prime yet.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Fri 13 Jul 2018 11:38pm Marshall

Re: The Positives
Marshall was good tonight, better than Paddy. he was be real. Rice took his chance tonight and shone especially in the first half, Richmond will give us a reality check but there is some real talent in there. Hunter needs a break as he was tired tonight and some others are making up numbers but there is a future there. 2019 is goign to be better

Re: The Positives
Positives in IMHO were;
Marshall, Phillips, Rice and Clark all getting more games and acquitting themselves quite well.
Billings, Steele, Sinclair and Membrey all playing very good consistent footy

Re: The Positives
Yes Newnes is currently best 22 but some of his disposal and decision making is putrid.Cairnsman wrote: ↑Sat 14 Jul 2018 12:11amYeah Ricey and Marshall really grabbed their opportunities but I don't understand the set on Newnes. Imagine how much better we would be if he became our 25-30th best player(not because he had deteriorated but because new/younger players superseded him!)

Re: The Positives
There are some real "glass half empty" posters on here.
Surely we can all enjoy a rare win for an hour or so before the sad sacks rule again?

I am thrilled, relieved and grateful we belted them.

34k crowd attendance.
I don't think enough credit has been given to the club for the work they did to boost the crowd figures last Friday night.
They used the dynamic ticketing system to their financial advantage.
Well done for a well run game.

Re: The Positives
Agree completely. Call it what you want, A mock-buster and nightmare on Lygon st but people turned up and to be fair a lot were wearing blue. Not sure if it was the cheap tickets or the rare chance of either team winning but well done the marketing department for getting interest in the game and bums on seats

The high crowd was my highlight, given how poor it usually is.
Finnis pre game was predicting high 20’s so we were about 5K over forecast.
Just shows how effective marketing can work - the Friday 13th angle and $13 tickets created a lot of media for such a crap matchup. 10/10

Re: The Positives
"The Blues fielded 13 top-15 draft picks against the Saints yet Maclure said they were “brutalised” by a team with a similar age profile."
Now that is a positive.
Now that is a positive.

Re: The Positives
Good choice of words by Maclure. We did brutalise them and that contributed to them looking horrible. Carlton have consistently responded well after a flogging and been hard to play against the next week. They cracked in hard and believed they could roll us, but we monstered them physically (as we did Melbourne) and the surrender came.
What I've liked about the way we've played since 3 qtr time of the Gold Coast game, is the way we seem to have discovered the mongrel we had in 2015/16. I include the Port game in that, with Brown, Carlisle and McCartin on 2 feet, we would've run them close.
They were on the verge of a dark place at 3 qtr time against the GC. Richo told them they were gonna run like never before in that final quarter, simple instruction and they've kept doing it since, somehow rediscovering their scent for the hunt. Armitage and Steele have had a lot to do wih that.
Utterly loved it when Steele let Cripps know all about his goal.
If we pick the right team for Friday, we'll give Richmond a game.
