One MAJOR disappointment about last Friday
In recent seasons one of the enjoyable parts of going to the footy at Docklands for me, was the pre game meal and beer at Black Cod. Great atmosphere, FANTASTIC fish’n’chips, and a good selection of reasonably priced beers. The shop at Etihad appears to have closed up so for the Carlton game, I suggested to my pal Tom, that we venture down to the “original” Black Cod on Victoria Harbour. What a mistake THAT was the joint was almost empty, however there was a throng of folk trying to place their orders for food/ drinks to two young girls who had ONE register and looked totally out of their depth!
The fish ( when it arrived ) looked as if it had died from old age and was fried to within a millimetre of its life! VERY disappointing to see a place change hands and then go downhill so fast! Never again!

True, I guess I should be grateful for THAT! It’s going to be the Victory Room for pre game eats and drinks from now on!

Try the Spencer Hotel. Good beers on tap and very nice food. Now run by two friendly young ladies.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

Very good! “Celebrity Cooking” ? Not really mate, just a grizzle about losing what had become a very enjoyable part of going to the footy with family and friends.Enrico_Misso wrote: ↑Mon 16 Jul 2018 12:52pm OMG

Now ease up Jiggster, I don’t want you having a grizzle about anything - grizzles about hospitality shut downs, lack of service or what ever. I’m scared if YOU, of all posters, starts to be infected by the grizzle virus you might wander to the dark side and join the moaners, whingers and grizlers who at times frequent this site and bellyache ad nauseum about the Saints.
Go and have therapy dear man and get thiswant to grizzle out of your system. Join SaintPav for a nice beer and meal at the Spencer............ it looks like they have a very clean dunny where he goes!

It’s a bummer the kebab joint is now an Asian joint - I used to like a kebab from the concourse.

The entire Docklands precinct west of the stadium is dead. Its like a ghost town. Looks great and new though, its just no one goes there.thejiggingsaint wrote: ↑Mon 16 Jul 2018 12:05pm In recent seasons one of the enjoyable parts of going to the footy at Docklands for me, was the pre game meal and beer at Black Cod. I still don't understand how its ok take a wine and spirit out of a bar into the outer, but you can't take out a heavy beer. Wtf?

Its ridiculous. Its as nearly as bad a decision as having those hippy gender neutral toilets a few weeks back.saintspremiers wrote: ↑Mon 16 Jul 2018 1:56pmConvicts don’t get pissed on wine and spirits only beer. Re: One MAJOR disappointment about last Friday
There are a few dodgy looking asian restaurants on the other side of spencer street that are absolutely tip top.
Many....
Many....

My partner and I always enjoy a four and twenty pie with sauce plus a coke while watching the footy.
Nothing beats that.

I’ve had cold ones or pies so hot they burn your lips. But I’m not as tough as you or a stinger.saynta wrote: ↑Mon 16 Jul 2018 6:08pmWell, I have never heard of a dodgy four an' twenty....on the other hand....thejiggingsaint wrote: ↑Mon 16 Jul 2018 5:34pmAll a matter of preferences I guess mate.

Re: One MAJOR disappointment about last Friday
Of course Friday night is fish and chips night. To be partnered last week with Carlton light or an abrasive little Pinot Gris from chateau Elliott. The Gris proved to be not as full bodied as in the days when it came with a brown paper bag and le bleu colouring.

Get a life you drop kicks, I have never had a pie, light beer or a dried bit of fish in my glorious life. Live it up and spend your money on good stuff. Try the bar nacional this Friday night before we go forward and flog the Tigers.

You don't know what you are missing.
Apart from the fish, which I don't eat anyway.
Can't stand the smell..
