That is the best outcome from 2018 - with some fingers crossed on a couple!

Some will put Sinclair, Webster and McKenzir in but in place of who - so I view those 3 as depth
You cannot play Bruce, Skunky, Battle and Paddy in the same forward line and then play Hickledik and Marshall, contrats, you just selected the slowest team in the history of the game!!!!!

Doesn't surprise me though!!!!!

Any wonder you follow the round ball code, stick with Wogball!!!!!

And, if that's not funny enough, you have also picked 4 talks down back, now I'm a tall man myself, all for backing the talks in, but seriously, you need to be congratulated on your world record AFL slowest team!!!!!

Lay off the Vodka's or you on the strawberries and cream by now?????

Clueless, clearly never played the game!!!!!

And you accuse me of not being right, haha!!!!!

Also, what's this got to do with this weeks ins and outs??????
Are you really 202cm Billy
Or even Longer.

I have heard that each player has to survive training this week without breaking a leg or puncturing a lung.
Only then will they get to play.

Spot on although Sincs stays for mine. Needs to fix his kicking up though. For such a beautiful kick he's been off his tucker lately. Id like to see Connellan get a run also. We need some speed. Maybe for Newnes as he's been treading water. Gilbert is done also unfortunately. Reckon Clarke might get rested this week as he's played a few in a row. Coffield takes his place, if so. And can someone work out the Brandon White situation and get him on the park. Need to be getting games into the future not rehashing the past.
Excellent post.

Sinclair is still an excellent kick and makes terrific decisions. Big problem for him though ... he has no one to kick it to. Whilst we continue to allow our forwards to be out-numbered all day - anyone (even Sinclair) will struggle to execute their kick skills. Sincs has also been played out of position many times this year - last year he was the perfect link-up wingman who laced everyone (normally Billings) coming off the back of the wings. This year ...

Conellan for Newnes is perfect - bigger body, more agressive and faster. May also lay an effective tackle or two. Gilbo? Was actually done last year but I suspect they kept him on for leadership etc (which is kind of like making Geary captain).

Brandon White is a goddamn mystery - if Mav is the coach's pet then White is the oppositive of that situation. First dropped - despite the fact he's one of the few we have who can kick the eyes out of it (and defend). There's something going on there that's just not right. Why you'd play and of Gilbert, Newnes, Weller, Lonie ahead of Coffield, White and Ed Phillips is beyond me (and many others).

This.

Many of our players position themselves to receive the ball whether from kicks or handballs.

This means that if we do pass to them, and we do, that the receiver gets tackled spoilt immediately or has to dish off the ball immediately as they are under hot pressure.

You watch other teams set up in packs and virtually always there will be a player by themselves outside of the pack for them to handball to. This is often lacking and St Kilda and so invariably we see hot handballs to the nearest St Kilda jumper who cannot break free.

For kicking targets way to often there are not players in space.

When Sinclair has well positioned team mates he invariably makes good decision quickly on who to release the ball to.

Judging by the footage at training from yesterday it looks highly unlikely that Carlisle will play Friday night.
Goddard and White must come in surely.

For McCartin, Marshall has to come in.

If Gilbo is dropped, Hickey in, as he can give Longer a chop out in the ruck.

Freeman in - if not this week, when?

Acres will return.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Lonie back in based on his numbers in the Zebs either.

6 is a lot of changes, but necessity is the mother of invention.

I'm really hoping Carlisle gets up, because we're going to need him forward.

Out: McCartin (inj); Joyce; Gilbert & Wright

In: Carlisle; Goddard; White & Acres

went to training today and based on the way they split up in match simulation, I'm guessing

IN
Carlisle (stayed out of one tackle drill but seemed to do most other work, incl match sim)
Hickey
Marshall
Gilbo (staying in)

Out
Hunter
Wright
Joyce
Longer

Acres and Steele played for the second 22 group, no bench in match sim so maybe just making up numbers in second 22.

Freeza and Coff ran laps so don't look likely

Austin - didn't see him, although wasn't really looking for him

other observations from training

- like the look of Paton, good agility and strength, reckon he'll become a handy player
- Seb training in that defensive distributor role
- Lonie handy in the F50 drills, good competitor for size (I'm not a fan but he has a good crack)
- Jake owned Lewie Pierce in one on one marking contests - easily moved him around - Lewie a lot of work to do in that area
- Geary reads it well, very good on the defensive mop up, clean
- Billings, dunno if it's just his persona but I've seen him up close a couple of times recently and he looks unhappy and distant, doing the work but it looks like a chore...I'm a fan, not sure what the go is there
- Marshall, throws himself into it, nice kick
- Mav - not a fan but is very competitive at training, was lively in F50 drills, can see why he gets picked

Paddy and logan are both outsas they are injured.

Carlisle is fit as is Acres.

Tipping Carlisle, Acres and Marshall as ins with the outs to be Wright, Paddy and Austin.

Saw it getting strapped up at three quarter time on TV. That is why Marshall should have been in - Billy had to ruck the game out and this has probably made the injury worse. How likely is he to get up by Friday?

If Longer is out then Hickey should come in

Even 100-0 chance of Longer being fit Hickey should come in

Acres for Wright
Marshall for Paddy
Carlisle for Austin
Hickey for Longer
Goddard for Joyce?? - though we may want to stay smaller if Casboult or McKay don't get picked

Thanks to those who contribute in a meaningful way to this Forum including those with at least some confirmed inside knowledge, Saintbrat and those who attend training and VFL games and report

When you rely on streaming and generic media coverage some more “cut and thrust” coverage is sought and some on here assist in that

Along with those I attend AFL games with we were of consensus opinion that 2018 would most likely be a struggle, on the back of the losses of Fisher, Dempster, Riewoldt and Montagna over the immediate past and given the remainder demographic of our List

Then came the loss of Roberton

So by leaving the Melbourne winter behind it was unlikely that we would miss St Kilda positioning to go the distance in 2018

And so it has turned out

The more intimate association has been thru this Forum

And contributing by calling out nonsense

The qualifications to call out what is viewed as nonsense are what they are - and this is a Forum of the anonymous so anyone can present whatever because who knows?

That said the result of 2018 is exactly as predicted

We continue to seek to confirm that our earlier Draft Picks from the last couple of years will contribute to a competitive side and a competitive Club - then we have Freeman

That is the interest

The summary now is whilst this Forum has contributed information and opinion there remains significant content which is simply a waste of space and time, this thread being indicative

Hence other things to do is the result

Enjoy Melbourne’s winter

And not too sure the Poms have beaten anyone of note so today will tell

Then France await

France

Plus that the place will rock for the final couple of weeks of the Tour!!

No doubt the predictable, genetic main stream media and the equally benign St Kilda FC Web site will update on Freeman and we wish him every success

He deserves it
