Rumour: Harves to coach us in 2020
A guy called Sam Harris on a Saints Facebook page,
reckons some dude- a neighbour- called "Tony Watering" (!) does some fwd line coaching with Saints,
reckons Harves being interviewed in next few weeks.
Who is 'Tony Watering'
I know we have 14 coaches, his name ain't never come up.

Re: Rumour: Harves to coach us in 2020
Good whisper WS. Not a bad one. It sounds plausible. Can Harves be a good head coach though? He seems like a top assistant and does well at Collingwood. He would get the list bloody fit, I can guarantee that.

For example, you don't even need to work to go on an overseas holiday apparantly. Australia and the world owes it to you.

Banger has, I believe inquired about coaching positions at the saints in the past.
Would be great if he returned to Moorabbin.

How about Matthew Guy?
He’s a bull at a gate and has good connections.
Why does it have to be an ex footballer??

He's the mid field coach for a team that is second on the ladder, has the best mid performed mid field in the competition and could jag a premiership cup this year ffs.
Better than any of our current assistants one would think.
Glad your opinion is a non issue for the club just like mine.

You would expect they are interviewing him for an assistant position next year and to see how he would go after 2020?

Re: Rumour: Harves to coach us in 2020
I have never pretended to be a ITK, I'm genuinely your basic pompous patronizing arse hat.
However, my lovely wife ( either mad or...yep must be mad for grabbing me) is very close to a person that means I end up hanging out with a club official. I've said this all before.
We rarely ever talk footy - I absolutely never mention it even once and I reckon that's why he keeps inviting us around. I dont ask. But after he'd had a few bottles of wine one summer eve ( I'm a recovering alcoholic so of course I was savoring fecking soda water) ....he just blurted out this whole interview episode of 2014. I was talking units we looked at earlier to buy in docklands and bamo.
As I said before he claims that Harvs just absolutely shat himself in the interview and literally could not present a future strategic plan. But Richo blew their hair back with his power presentation that supposedly he had made not a PowerPoint but actually professional strategic guides all pro bound like books, I asked where they were and he said what do you think our future cast was based on . Thus we have Richo.
Then he went to the toilet for 25 minutes and I pet his dog.
I care not if you believe me, I live my life as it happens.

Happy to have him back as an assistant. Not convinced he is ever going to be a senior AFL coach. If he takes the Sandy job next year and takes them to the flag, I may reconsider.

Re: Rumour: Harves to coach us in 2020
“My decision to leave the St Kilda Football Club was a difficult one. I have a great love for the club and a strong desire to one day return to the club in the future.”
So said Harvs according to an article published in Herald Sun on Oct 20, 2011 in the smoke of Lyon’s departure.
I take it he wasn’t overwhelmed about being overlooked and has moved on.
I have always wondered about this team. Frawley, Thomas and Harvey and almost anytime I imagine it, I am slammed by my own editor for being biased and fanciful, because no team imagines such foolery as employing three ex-own-team people to a coaching panel.
So I think that Richo isn’t very charismatic, but I feel- and this is based 100% on my 2nd hand media observations and intuition- his plodding, methodical, honest and realistic approach has succeeded in so far as getting us a tougher fixture (I.e. moderate success) The “intensity brand” eventually fades, and cunning or lazy players rise within the team just as clever teams can scoop up the afters. I haven’t a clue whether Richo is good or bad, I guess I’m just hoping against the tide. Buckley and Hardwick we’re toast a couple of years ago. And we’ve seen all the great coaches fail at their ‘final’ clubs.

You may not be Billy Longer .
You could be Richo himself.
But about Banger, I think you are right.
I don't think he has the right personality for a senior coach.
