I Just Can't Stand Richo.
No s***, if I hear the words 'strong', 'pleasing', 'pressure' and 'disappointing' one more f****** time I'm going to lose my s***.
They showed him berating the players at the huddle during the Swans massacre, and you know what he was screaming at them?
"Be F***ING STRONG!!"
No s***. That was his pearl of wisdom.
What does "be strong" even mean?
I just hope, and pray, that as a coach he elaborates to the players exactly HOW they are meant to be strong, and HOW he wants them to apply pressure.
If I were Roberton, McCartin, Dunstan, Stevens, Dempster or any of the many others that have suffered multiple concussions under his tutelage - I'd be like 'Dude, I can't really be much 'stronger' than risking my f****** brain in a contest. Care to educate me on exactly what the f*** you mean?'
I can't comment on the inner sanctum and whether he's any good or not as a coach, but s***, as a supporter I just can't stand the dude.
His rhetoric is just nothing short of genuinely idiotic.

Really strong post.
Pleasing to read.

Actions speak louder than words. Needs to stop playing favourites and select on form.
He seems obsessed with players who are “strong at the contest” versus players who can get a kick.

Re: I Just Can't Stand Richo.
I dont like the guy either he is as bland, uninteresting, dull and boring an AFL coach that I can ever recall. Watching his post game interviews and supporter videos makes my skin crawl and previously I lapped up anything Saints related. It does seem that the players like him and he has the support of the club so I dont think he is going any where we are stuck with him.

When we selected Richo, I think the other contender was Mark (Choc) Williams.
Opinions please - would we have been better off with Choc?

Re: I Just Can't Stand Richo.
I didn't realise that it was a popularity contest being a head AFL coach. Its not Instagram in that you try and attract as many followers as possible.
The players like and respect Richo. That is enough. He can coach and its why the Saints picked him in the first place. He has been let down by his assistants and players too much this season. He is a great bloke too so the personal comments are a bit unfair.
I seriously don't know what he can say or do in a press conference or in the public eye. Its just the daily grind of being a coach. Imagine trying to do it yourself? Is he any different than say Ken Hinkley? No and his side currently sits equal 2nd on the ladder. Same as Ross Lyon. He barely clicks out of first gear when speaking and sounds like he barely passed Year 9 but he can coach and players respect him. Lyon is about as marketable and likeable as Sloth off The Goonies (looks like him too).
Richo is doing a tough gig and his main role at the moment is to try turn the side into a finals side and continue building the side. His role is not to always come up with magical and sweet sounding words or show uber enthusiasm every day to please us supporters.

Has anyone done a comparison between numbers of concussions between teams? It feels like the Saints have had a lot, but I am unsure of numbers between clubs

There's plenty of posts about his actual coaching.parkeysainter wrote: ↑Mon 09 Jul 2018 1:43pm I didn't realise that it was a popularity contest being a head AFL coach. Its not Instagram in that you try and attract as many followers as possible.

This isn't a commentary on that - it's about the fact that I feel like punching a wall every time I hear him speak.
He sits there with his Donald Trump esque' pout and regurgitates the same s*** over, and over, and over and over again! It's just absolutely mind numbing!
The absolute tipping point was when they grabbed him at half-time of the Melbourne game, when clearly we were playing quite well offensively and moving the ball well and being very efficient with our use of it. And what is the first f****** thing that comes out of his mouth??? "Yeah, were were really strong"!!!
WTF dude!!!
