Hun predicts we will finish last.
With no more wins. Even against Carlscum
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/ ... 6f05e55f59
16. ST KILDA 10 70.8%
15 — Melbourne, MCG (Away) L
16 — Port Adelaide, Adelaide Oval (Away) L
17 — Carlton, Etihad Stadium (Home) L
18 — Richmond, Etihad Stadium (Home) L
19 — GWS Giants, Spotless Stadium (Away) L
20 — Western Bulldogs, Etihad Stadium (Home) L
21 — Essendon, Etihad Stadium (Away) L
22 — Hawthorn, Etihad Stadium (Home) L
23 — North Melbourne, Etihad Stadium (Home) L
PREDICTED FINISH: 2 wins, 1 draw, 10 points
WE SAY: Storming home to overrun the struggling Suns before the bye has sold some hope to Saints fans, but a difficult fortnight against top-four contenders Melbourne and Port Adelaide should quell the fleeting moment of optimism. The following week against Carlton looms as St Kilda’s best chance of another win, but the Blues’ efforts against Geelong, Sydney and Collingwood suggest they are on the verge of a result. The Saints could steal an upset victory somewhere else, but a winless run home is possible and the wooden spoon is very much in play – especially if they lose to Carlton in Round 17

Actually they have us winning the wooden spoon with 10 points while they have both Carlscum and the Brions finishing with three wins each and 12 points.

If we lose to Carlton they are still 2 behind us but it becomes possible. Brisbane are playing better than us just without he wins so I would not be surprised if they overtake us if we lose to Carlton.

So if we do finish last and take Lukosius with number 1, where do we find midfielders?

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
In that case we have to trade out Bruce and McCartin which would net us a couple of second rounders to play with. Move on Newnes for an early third rounder and we might be able to package those picks up for either an early pick or a decent mid. We should also be throwing buckets of cash at all decent FA's but it does seem unlikely anyone would want to come.

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
If we did get the 1st pick, would we use it?
Could we get 2 first round picks for it? I think everyone has identified that quality mids run a fair way down the order in this draft. Could be an opportunity to gain some presence back

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
I've been saying this for ages. Playing us will be Carlton's 2018 GF. And nothing surer than they will come out breathing fire that Friday night after the bulls!t of last year with Carlisle (which incidentally, they started but we felt compelled to apologise for).
I can see Cripps, Kruezer and Murphy ripping us a new one.
So yeah - as much as it saddens me - hard to disagree with the logic from the Hun on this.

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
Fine then.
IN:. Lukosious
OUT:. McCartin for pick 15 (Geelong first)
Pick 15 & Next year's 1st:. A.Cerra
2 A Graders IN, 1 b grader out.
Next year without injuries and another pre season into youngsters will see us do very well.

can't see Carlscum nor Lions winning 2 more. Carlscum might beat Bulldogs, but they can't win their other games.

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
A lot has to happen before something remotely resembling this eventuates, but this sort of scenario is exactly what we need. Not necessarily agreeing with getting rid of Paddy because any changes to AFL rules with zones will have to come into play and that increases the value of someone like McCartin
Hope you post this again in the trade/draft threads in October/November

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
The Lions often sneak up and win games in mid July - Mid August when the weather gets dewy and slippery at night. Same with GCS.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 29 Jun 2018 12:44pm can't see Carlscum nor Lions winning 2 more. Carlscum might beat Bulldogs, but they can't win their other games.

I won’t be surprised if both of them bob up for a couple of unexpected wins before season’s end (unless they put everyone into surgery).

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
next weekend Brisbane play Carlton and the winner is 2 behind us. Brisbane have a tough run home with only the suns as winnable on paper at this stage. Carlton play us, suns and Doggies. At this stage last looks very unlikely especially if we beat Carlton. If we lose then it is probable that Carlton will overtake us especially if they have already beaten Brisbane

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
The zone will not suit slow players, there will be too much space. That is why it is vitally important to get players with pace...and skill. There will be a spot for McCartin but not sure where.

Re: Hun predicts we will finish last.
That's true. The reports from the trial games are that the forwards did very very well as they had more space to work in. That said - even if a forward has space - there's still a requirement for the mids/half backs to hit targets by foot and this is the bit that somewhat worries me.
Hipwood apparently smashed it but then again, he was playing in front of Zorko, Beams, Hodge, Rich, Berry and Christensen - all of whom can kick the eyes out of it.
Meanwhile - we have Ross, Dunstan, Newnes, Steven et al ... none of whom are exactly adept at kicking it to the advantage of our forwards (let alone hitting them)
