Sam mitchell for coach

Post: # 1734389Post sks023 »

West Coasts rise to the top can be largely attributed to Sam Mitchel.
Was a great player with a great footy brain
I can see a lot of Sam in the way West coast go about it

MITCHELL FOR COACH!
I dont think replacing the coach will in itself make much difference, but thats not to say it wont happen. But it will be a marketing decision. Channel 7 wont want our games, viewers are turning off. supporters dont want to go, which means sponsors and major backers start with ultimatums and supporter groups starting trying to overthrow the board. So if there is to be a change, it must be a big one with the signing of a proven superstar coach such as a Clarko or Scott brother or Lyon etc. Another untried coach wont do it.
I think Lethlean needs to get on the front foot and provide more information about his sweeping review and explain that changes are coming and that no position is safe at year end.

Pleeease make this happen. Imagine what he would do for Ricey. Already a hard nut would turn him into the most hated player in the comp. Do it, get Mitchell

He's well regarded in AFL circles. What could go wrong?

*Allegedly.

IMO we will need a coach that already has some runs on the board. Maybe a bit early for Mitchell. Hodge would be the man once he got some experience, he seems to make all the right moves career wise. Would an experienced coach have Sexton along side him all day.........no way. Imagine Clarkson, hardwick and co putting up with cardboard cutouts always in your shadow.
The next coach should not have to report to fuckwits who know less than himself about football. Be ok reporting through to blokes like Neil Balme etc

An untried coach with only one year experience as an assistant??

I can't agree that that's a sensible decision.

We're in a rebuild, and about 18 months off the list hitting a good balance. We need an experienced coach to do some finishing work.

Like Michael Voss and Nathan Buckley, would have disaster written all over it.

Maybe as an assistant, but to appoint him as senior coach would just smack of more amateur hour management. Haven't we done enough already?

I'd love the idea of Lenny Hayes coaching the Saints one day, but again, stills needs to serve his apprenticeship as an assistant first.

Fu€k no!!! Please appoint a coach who’s actually coached their own team before. Don’t even care if it’s at a lower level. For me - that’s a non-negotiable.

That’s a large part of our problem - our group are all just current or ex-assistants who’ve never had ultimate responsiblity for their own team.

You can't guarantee who will be successful. Who knew that a serviceable half back in Jeans would go on to coach us to a premiership?

Sounds like we'll have some good potential acquisitions in the mix after Richo walks. Here's to hoping!
