Those picking the team don't have much to pick from.
Our list is appallingly bad.
A few injuries and a suspension have exposed atrocious recruiting.

You know when last week you looked at the team and thought..."that is the worst team on paper ever to represent StKilda"?
Well guess what!

Oh God, you're right...we are preemptively taking precautionary methods for our players mental health status by playing those already too scarred to matter!skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 31 May 2018 11:09pmThe sad part is... this is the best reason for Mavs selection so farBernard Shakey wrote: ↑Thu 31 May 2018 10:52pm The others don't need to have their confidence shattered in the west.

I can’t quite tell if you’re being facetious or not... and I can’t quite tell if I’m doing it too
All that can be added is that this seems to me to be a better rationale for playing Mav then any football and form related logic.
I mean seriously... the alternative line of thinking for Richo is... ‘well Mav’s last 27 games haven’t yielded any results but I have a good feeling about Saturday’

Only slightly tongue in cheek...the truth behind the statement kind of struck me... as if a thought was given to preserving young malleable minds from another battering.skeptic wrote: ↑Fri 01 Jun 2018 1:10amfugazi wrote: ↑Fri 01 Jun 2018 12:57amOh God, you're right...we are preemptively taking precautionary methods for our players mental health status by playing those already too scarred to matter!skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 31 May 2018 11:09pmThe sad part is... this is the best reason for Mavs selection so farBernard Shakey wrote: ↑Thu 31 May 2018 10:52pm The others don't need to have their confidence shattered in the west.

Re: In Weller Marshall out Carlisle Dunstan
How is Coffield "managed" one week, and then not reselected the following? Just say he was dropped if his form isn't good enough to retain a spot.
And as for Weller. It's broken record stuff but he plays two pathetic games, gets concussed at training, then walks straight back into the team completely void of form. Yet Paton continues to impress in the VFL.

Re: In Weller Marshall out Carlisle Dunstan
This week doesn't matter anyway. Realistically speaking we are in for some pain in the west. It may not be great for self esteem of the younger guys to have their first afl experience as an absolute flogging. I am however surprised at Coffield. Agree that if he was being managed last week he should play this week.
Still confused about Jimmy Webster. He is a gun or close too as a hbf but the website had him in Carlisle spot? I don't think he can handle full forwards four quarters

Don't think Weller played VFL last week. He was injured/concussed at training wasn't he?Bernard Shakey wrote: ↑Thu 31 May 2018 10:52pmMeatball has ongoing groin problems. But here’s what I can’t stand about Richo in a nutshell...
I don’t remember anything from the VFL reports suggesting Weller blitzed it and demanded a recall and the reality is he’s a tried and known commodity at this point... and the known part = not that good, could be ok.
Players I would have liked to have seen in the team ahead of Mav:
Minchington (I know he’s only just got back but he started well)
Conellan (been playing well, has pace and has been kicking goals)
Coffield (hasn’t blitzed it but has potential and looked decent)
Paton (promising reports, good speed and disposal)
Battle (move Membrey up the ground if he doesn’t want to take set shots)
Wright (finished but he kicked a bunch of goals and got the ball in addition to pressuring his opponent)
Armo (finished but at least he got 40 possessions)
Quite literally I have him 8th in line.
Outside of tanking can anyone give me a valid reason to bring a medium pressuring forward with average disposal who has done little to justify selection in to an underperforming team
Armo is useless. Yes, he had a heap of it, and turned most of them over.
Wright is useless as well.
The others don't need to have their confidence shattered in the west.

May I remind you the benefit of Weller is INFERENTIAL STATISTICS, he leads the league in these stats!

I think it’s both Paton and Joyce.
They seem to take two when they play in Perth.

Re: In Weller Marshall out Carlisle Dunstan
Pretty simple with Coff, managed last week (as is the go with young players now), will spend some time in the midfield in the VFL, that he wouldn't get in the AFL!!!!!!Beno88 wrote: ↑Fri 01 Jun 2018 9:28am How is Coffield "managed" one week, and then not reselected the following? All part of developing him into an AFL midfielder, which he will become in time!!!!!

That defence looks absurdly short.
Austin takes Kennedy
But who takes Darling, certainly not Webster.
