No, its not good enough how the club has fared since the Tigers game last year. I will tell anyone that and be the first!ss1986 wrote: ↑Sat 26 May 2018 9:21pm Honestly - how far can we fall?
Finding positives in only losing by 5 goals to the reigning premier who had 2 players on the bench from midway through the first quarter....
We pantsed that mob in Round 16 last year.
Look what theyve done and look what we did since.
How on Earth did it all go so horribly wrong?
I fail to see a single positive out of any loss at this point in time. And Con G is the realist here Parkey.... not you.
If you can't find some positives out of this arvo's game then you aren't looking for them (like those I listed above)...or you just choose to ignore them. Each to their own though in this tough climate.
We had 5 fellas get over 30 touches and a 21 year old kick 6.0....how can you not find a positive out of that for example?

Re: Lots of positives today
I just find it difficult to accept that we've gone from a near top 8 team to being a team that gets smacked badly and can only manage 17 shots at goal - and we're seeing heaps of positives.
I battle with that.

Too slow, he can never get a break on his defender because he has no acceleration.
When the opposition gets the ball they have a loose man to help escape the pressure.

Yes, there were positives to take out of today. Shame it is a waste of time talking about them on this forum.

Re: Lots of positives today
I remember the 80s when people were happy after a loss to a 'good team'.
But that was a different era. No salary cap. No draft. No equalisation.
Absolutely no excuse for that kind of crap anymore.
We arent an under 10 side with an honourable loss to 'bigger boys'.
This is the AFL FFS.

This exercise in 'looking for positives' is simply about filling fans with false hope.
An exercise in futility and denial.
I want regime change from the top down.
I dont believe Summers and Finnis will ever cut the mustard.
The link is that the current regime want us to keep 'faith' and 'hope' in them by looking for positives. This is what posters like parkey do. They post positive 'feel good' posts to prop up a dodgy regime.
To provide false hope.
It is plain dishonest and unethical.
Hardly something to be proud of.
Not sure why the pollyannas on here claim the moral high ground. Nothing moral about dishonesty.

Re: Lots of positives today
Our mids/onballers do not run offensively or defensively to support and create/defend..instead they hang out the back and side to receive cheap possessions initiating easy goals to the opposition and little scoring by us.

Everyone on this site is a diehard fan. And most are absolutely unwilling to accept the fact that we are 1.5 wins from 10 rounds and yet another year of missing finals...
We are also sick of the spin from the club.
This year we have heard from the board and the coaches;
We will be pushing for finals
We are a potential top 4 team
We are aiming for a 2020 premiership
We may need to re-align our targets
Actually no, we are still a top 4 team, underperforming
The reality is we are closer to a 2020 spoon than a 2020 flag.
Surely.... SURELY.... it is time for everyone to start questioning every single aspect of this football club.
Appreciating “effort” is complete horsepoop.
Save that piss for someone elses back and tell them its raining.

True Con that there is nothing moral about dishonesty - your statement that Trent Dumont comes from a rough North Adelaide suburb is dishonest. Some on here were popping the champagne after the GWS draw.
Back on track - they said.
Shows what we can do - they said.
Up there with the big boys - they said.
GWS are currently 11th.

Did you notice, the difference in confidence between the two teams?
Especially in the first quarter. Poles apart.
Everything Richmond did was just done with ease and confidence whereas anything we did was just tentative and frightening.
Where we are right now is just plain sad. They had a crack though.

Re: Lots of positives today
I’m done with honourable losses and applauding mediocrity. It’s been the St. Kilda way for far too long.
How many rebuilds do we have to sit through and commend the positives of honourable losses before we finally draw the line in the sand - win or nothing at all.
It’s what will always seperate us from the more successful teams.

Stkilda is everyone who chooses to be a part of the Saints even if it is for a short time only. I love the Saints. I respect anyone who has played a game for us or made a decision on our behalf because that is more than I have.

This OP was about the v Tigers game today and looking at some positives that occurred from it.
E.g. 20 year old Gresh kicking 6.0
E.g. The continuing rise of J. Webster
Give it a break. Get off the drugs!

Re: Lots of positives today
I agree with Con - not interested in being “commendable”
There is only 1 positive left each week this season now and that will be in identifying which kids are our future nucleus and those that aren’t
What is “pleasing” is 4 of the names in Cons post above are kids or new .....it’s a start but let’s be real......IF our development program stays the same and no change in coaching or leadership at the club......they’ll soon stagnate
We need another Blight catalyst.......without the Blight....

Dumont was a SANFL Premiership player with Norwood before being eligible for the Draft - as were Aish (twice) and Fantasia
These kids all skipped under age footy
And were Drafted off SANFL League performances - as 16, 17 and 18 year olds
That Dumont has taken the time to establish at AFL level is the surprise

Re: Lots of positives today
It was our best loss of the year.
And we only lost by 28, our equal smallest loss.
What’s a massive concern is that we can’t get closer than 5 goals in our 8 losses!
That’s pathetic!
Yesterday the only thing that prevented a 40+ point margin was our incredible and unusual accuracy and the Tigers inaccuracy.

Re: Lots of positives today
What is the honorable loss BS?
We got beaten by 28 points conceding 30 scoring shots to our own 17.
Yes we were competitive for a longer period of the game, and yes improved on the last few weeks. They had a crack, agreed.
The fact that so many played their games of the season and we won many of the stats is most concerning. This shows our best is not competitive with the top teams.
Anyone touting this as an honorable loss or positive performance is someone who is happy with mediocrity.

Gresham’s gotta be a positive. Twenty years old and six straight at the MCG against the reigning premier. Kid’s going to be a big star. Now we just need a few of his teammates to follow suit.
