Can someone explain how it happened that we gave Wayne Hughes a job?
Genuinely interested.

Trout's pick one will still be there by pick five.
So we don't need the wooden spoon.
Trout's pick 5 is every other club's pick 50.
Will be a nice kid though and his mum will be a good cook.
Thought that had died a painfully slow death by now

Great Question. I think he was involved at StKilda when we drafted Michael Frost and David Strooper. He then went on to Carlton and after stuffing up their list we couldnt wait to get him back.congorozides wrote: ↑Sun 20 May 2018 10:11pm Can someone explain how it happened that we gave Wayne Hughes a job?

The greatest deficiency in our club is identifying, drafting, and then developing talent.
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Re: Pick one on its way
I think Carlton will pip us for #1 draft pick. Don't do anything clever this year just get the best outside available. Richo will be gone soonish, especially if we come in the bottom 3. We have a good group of young talent and they will start coming good soon. Hunter, Coffy, Long, Phillips look good, Rice needs more work as does Battle but there is potential there.
Nothing dumb this year and I couldn't give a rats arse what the kids home life is like. If they can play, they can play. Get 'em.

Re: Pick one on its way
We're getting a top 5 pick. We need the best mid available. Preferably in a Jack Steven kind of mould with his quick sprinting ability. A kid that also has good speed, makes good decisions and can get heaps of the footy. We need our next R. Harvey.
