I am totally sick an tired of the commentators saying that Betts is the best small forward player ever. I was nearly sick the other week when he was compared to Daicos or Farmer, but not our Stevie.
A cursory look at Footy Stats shows Milney to have more goals kicked per game as Betts. Yes, we might have had a great side at the time but I'd rather Milney than Betts any time!!!
Yeah I laughed at that - they really don't want to give Milne any credit but seriously suggesting Betts as best ever isn't right
Milne shyte son Farmer and didn't Daicos also play mid at times?
A dedicated small forward is a tough gig and Betts is great but to leave Milne out of that like they did is laughable
Matthew Richardson brought him into the conversation - suspect he has a soft spot for the Saints Richo he is the only one to pump us up at all....
Don’t reckon too many neutrals would agree with you.Goals alone surely favour Milne, but compare the tackles and a different picture emerges!Milne kicked plenty but also was responsible for plenty of opposition attacks started by his direct opponent.

I think you're being harsh on Milne there - granted earlier in his career he needed defensive work but I'd argue at his annoying best his defensive efforts for us were a key reason why he was able to hassle pick pockets and get goals
I also think Milne has Betts covered for consistency but just my view
why does it upset people that another player may be considered to be better than one of ours?
I just had a look at career stats for both
and a couple of things stood out like d@gs b@lls https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_ ... 1=C&fid2=C
I forgot that Milne played till 38yrs amazingly long career but Betts has surpassed him in game totals much faster => less injury/suspension interrupted
Defensive side of game - tackles and frees against => way in favour of Betts
Bit too early too call on accuracy but I fear Betts may come on top there as well in the end
Both are great small forward players - history will decide which is better

Are you just making stuff up? Milne played his last game at 33. He’s 38 now.

thought 38 was a bit old for him
footywire obviously doesnt cut off players career age. . . which is a bit strange
so no Im not MAKING STUFF UP
No, you are just gullible enough to put forward an opinion based solely on somebody else's stuff-up.
Clearly not your fault at all is it? Just monkey, see monkey do.
Because of injury he played pretty much a full season (might have been 1976) as a small forward, kicked 93 and might have won the Coleman. I think he won the Coleman once or twice.

Milne averaged over 21 games per season. So I don’t know where that stuff about Betts (20 games) being more resilient comes from.
