given that Max Gawn is coming third in the 2018 poll, even outpointing last years winner Dusty - its not very surprising he got votes in that game
SO if we are using this poll as the yardstick against our players - then we really are a cr@p side this year
Interesting to note tho: Our only win for the season against the Lions in which our resident ex stkilda ruckman claims that it was no coincidence that Longer played that round - No votes.
SO by my reckoning in 2018
Longer = 0
Hickey = 2
oh and BY THE WAY that was our drawn game against GWS

Stonecold, when you carry on repeatedly about the coaches votes, using them to attack other posters opinions, then are clearly proven wrong, how are we meant to take everything else you say seriously?
And i don’t think as a ruckman being shaded by Gawn, McEvoy and Sandilands is anything to get too down about, as they are 3 of the best in the league. No one expects Hickey to beat them, just be competitive and contribute, which he is and does. Especially after bizarrely missing a year in favour of Longer, who is clearly an ordinary footballer with not much upside. The clearance stats show that even though we have probably the worst midfield in the league, they’ve been close in all of the last 3 matches.
Ruckwork has changed from 40 years ago, you can’t have dinosaurs loaping about who contribute zero around the ground anymore. How did Longer go in the 2s? Much of a ‘physical presence’?
All posters are equal, but some posters are more equal than others.

Didn't say Longer needs to comeback, just pointing out that Tom's opponents have been in the BEST three players on the ground the last three games, not sure how many times I have to point that out for the dumb posters to get it!!!!!
Obviously many times for some!!!!!
Is this based on your assessment?
Just treat me like a dumb poster and explain where your figures are coming from.
Hawthorn: McEvoy named in best 3+coaches votes
Melb: Gawn named in best 3+coaches votes
Freo: Sandilands named in best 3+ likely coaches votes
Simple enough for you?????
On what do you mean treat?????
Gawn wasn’t and votes aren’t in for Freo game. So one wrong and one guess.
Billy is 2 for 2 on that measure. Stefan Martin was in the top 3 in a losing team.
Educated guess?????
Not!!!!!
More votes against:
FREMANTLE v ST KILDA
10 Nat Fyfe (Frem)
6 Aaron Sandilands (Frem)
4 Ed Langdon (Frem)
4 Jimmy Webster (StK)
3 Luke Ryan (Frem)
2 Connor Blakely (Frem)
1 Lachie Neale (Frem
My apologises, Gawn 4th best, however Sandilands 2nd best, just for the dumber posters,
4+2=6
6÷2=3
Average 3!!!!!
You guys may catch up, maybe?????

And Robert Harvey and I average one Brownlow each, it doesn’t allow me to say we have both won a Brownlow.

That’s easy. Max Gawn was voted 4th best on ground by the coaches. Not top 3 as you said. And not top 3 for Melbourne which you continued to say despite there being 3 Demons ahead of him.
Why do you ask?

Just checking, cause you only showed half the votes!!!!!
How'd my 'educated guess' go then?????
Or you going to try and slant that one in your favour as well!!!!!

You claimed Gawn was in the top 3, so I showed the top 3. I was just following your lead.

When McEvoy was at the same stage of his career that Hickey’s currently at, same kind of general consensus - great around the ground but tap work yet to be desired. 5 years into his career, he was still consistently beaten by most half-decent opposition rucks and many were saying that he just won’t make it as an AFL standard ruck.
Look at McEvoy now.
Maybe it’s proof that some rucks really take a lot of time to develop, or that St Kilda just cant develop rucks themselves. Either way, Hickey has shown more than enough to justify that’s he’s worth preserving with, but I do also worry that it will be hard to hang on to both Longer and Hickey at seasons end and if we end up losing Hickey for a paltry late second round pick, he’ll mature into a very good all-round footballer and we’ll look like turkeys.
