Ball gets sat on his head often. A lot of two on one contests. Probably would play better being the second or third forward in the senior side.shrodes wrote:Similar delivery to the AFL team. Kicking to the opposition.congorozides wrote:Battle looks very ginger?

Re: VFL RD 5 Sandringham Vs Essendon
what is going on here - I assume we draft kids whose skills stand out
but then as a collective group - skills go out the window, goal kicking is a farce and there is zero pressure coming from the feeder 2nds for a place in the seniors...?
Our troubles run very very deep

Get Freeman and Battle in the next couple of weeks. We need more games into the kids.

It's silly to suggest that people shouldn't have concerns about the kid's body holding up... I mean he had a big hamstring not two months ago for goodness sack. I know because Jaxons posted it well ahead of when it came out.
Perhaps someone can explain it to me. Why is ridiculous that people think his body may not be up to it? Have we also stopped worrying about Paddy's concussions too?

See your attitude confuses me. You claim you don't read my posts and yet constantly respond to me and my threads.saynta wrote:Those same fickle posters are already preparing their defence.
so childish
Make your argument clear... are you saying it is stupid that people had doubts about Freeman's ability to make it? It's a yes or no question.
Bet you won't answer

Geeez what a shocking thing to say.

Wright's not up to it and it seems doubtful that Freeman ever plays
Haven't seen enough of Rice to make a call
Lonie and DMac consistently tear it up in the VFL but it doesn't translate in the seniors so I hope they can put it together this year and show us more consistently what they're capable of
I really rate Minch but injuries are robbing him of his chance though IMO he is the one of the fringe small forwards (Lonie/Weller/Wright) that has shown the most but he's just too injury prone and erratic. Again, prove me wrong.
Goddaqd looks gone most likely but hopefully he's fully fit and can show us what he's made of... there's a need for him if he's good enough

Re: VFL RD 5 Sandringham Vs Essendon
Should have added that Paton was good today. Played on the wing but saw plenty of it, ran to the right places and his disposal was generally good. Doesn't look like much but can play.
V disappointed to see Lonie named in the best. Apart from a few attempts to start a scrap he was unsighted.

Yeah, I watched the match. Had a bit of a laugh when Lonie got into a couple of scraps.Hemi Baxter wrote:Should have added that Paton was good today. Played on the wing but saw plenty of it, ran to the right places and his disposal was generally good. Doesn't look like much but can play.

Someone should tell him to pick on someone his own size.
The coaching staff say Paton is not far off a senior game.
Maybe Austin or Goddard will get a game if Carlyle doesn't come up.

Re: VFL RD 5 Sandringham Vs Essendon
Paton was a very good selection. He is probably also a year ahead of the other picks due to being drafted as a 19 year old. He will play seniors soon barring injury. Potential onballer too.
Paton was taken with pick No. 46 in the 2017 National Draft.
After being overlooked in last year's drafts, the Murray Bushrangers product returned as a 19-year-old overage player and thrived in a new role in defence.
The shift from the midfield to the backline paid dividends for the tenacious teenager, with his early season form attracting the attention of the Vic Country selectors.
Paton enhanced his standing in the draft pool at the combine in October when he finished third in the standing vertical leap, jumping 80cm, before recording the sixth fastest time in the 20-metre sprint at 2.95 seconds

Re: VFL RD 5 Sandringham Vs Essendon
Freeman just looks like a gun footballer. Does anyone have his clearance stats to go with the 31 touches? He needs to play AT LEAST 6-8 weeks before his magnet gets put on the board to be even considered for selection. His body just needs to gets used to playing week in/week out. I'd be rapped if he got 2-4 AFL games in the back half of the season.
