Just read Marshall had 24 possessions and 4 goals in the praccy match on the weekend

This kid is a very exciting prospect. Add that to his JLT performabce and surely he deserves his chance in the
Ones against north?

Who makes room is the obvious question. Arguably has to be a ruck or a forward which would mean either longer or paddy imo

In an ideal world, Paddy would be given 3 games in a row to assess his trajectory.
If he doesn't progress, then he goes to Zebs (like last year) to learn his craft under less pressure,
and Marshall and Battle will battle :) for the vacant spot.

However, the coaches persisted with Weller last year, and another player who won't be mentioned, although neither
contributed and in fact were liabilities.

I am concerned that the brains trust will just keep playing Paddy to justify the contract extension,
and just pile all the blame on the mids
for not being able to deliver accurate passes to him, each time he has a less than impressive game.

They need Marshall in at some stage as Billy Longersaurus was no good on Sat against a quality ruck that has a good leap. Problem is that Marshall just isn't quite ready yet and Hickey has gone off the pace a bit it seems.

If we give away so many hitouts and centre clearances against a side like Geelong with their midfield then we will get smashed. Something needs to change. Our ruck position is my biggest concern atm.

Marshall didn't play for sandy.

"Before the first bounce on Saturday, there was already plenty of positives in the Saints camp after a VFL practice match at Sandringham.

While Mav Weller and Rowan Marshall sat out the hit-out as the carry-over emergencies, Luke Dunstan, Bailey Rice and Nick Coffield were among the Saints in action for the Zebras.

In wet and wild conditions, the trio led the possession count and loaded up on match minutes to ensure they are ready to fire should they be called upon in Round 2.

The Saints return to Etihad Stadium this Friday to take on North Melbourne in the second ever Kick for the Kids match at 4.20pm."
